Pleasant small hotelPosted Jun 11, 2014
Pros: cleanliness, friendly staff, comfortable room
Cons: The hotel enjoys a semi-rural aspect. Traffic noise was noticeable in the room because we chose to open our window rather than use air-conditioning.
Location: A 15-minute bus ride to Siena or 30-minute walk. Set in attractive countryside, Siena is a delight. Plenty of attractive sights, restaurants and bars.
A welcoming, small hotel, clean and with friendly staff, on the southern edge of Siena. For car users there's easy access from major routes. We used public transport....there's a bus stop outside the hotel with half-hourly buses into Siena (route 3) or a short walk away 6 buses per hour (routes 3 and 54). Tickets are available in the hotel or via machine at the latter bus stop. Route 3 serves both bus and railway stations. The walk back from Siena (downhill!) is pleasant and takes around 30 minutes. There's a pleasant hotel garden and shaded terrace. The only down-side is the proximity of a dual-carriageway with accompanying traffic noise. Having said that, we would return and would recommend both the hotel and Siena. We were there for a week.

The 2 km to city is a difficult walk. Buses are easy, and 1.2€ each way, however they stop running at 9pm. A taxi will cost 10€. There are no food services near the hotel so you must go out or bring stuff with you. Room is comfortable, but bed is very hard. Grounds are nice, nice patio, but no view. Great location if you have a car and are doing day trips to hillside villages.

A little confusing to findPosted Oct 28, 2011 on Hotels.com
The staff was very helpful, however this hotel is really on the outskirts from the city. It took us about 40 minutes on bus to get from the main bus station in Siena to the hotel.

Comfortable and unpretentiousPosted Jun 3, 2011 on Hotels.com
I stayed three nights in the Ai Tufi. It is about 2 km from the centre of Siena and if you are fit it is quite feasible to walk, but it is uphill nearly all the way so better to use the bus. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel and it costs only 1 euro (route no 3, which also goes to the railway station). Walking back from Porta Tufi in the evening is very pleasant and gives delightful views of the countryside. The hotel serves a good continental breakfast. There is no lift but the staff were helpful with luggage. The air conditioning worked well although I hardly needed it when I was there. Despite being near a main road the hotel was quiet except in the early morning. The bathroom had a good shower but no bidet; the bed was comfortable. TV with many international channels. Recommended.
