Great hotel

Was excellent hotel - outside Siena. Stayed in 1 bedroom apt that was upgraded. Clean and spacious. Breakfast ( was not included for us) was worth the price. If you have a car in Siena - worth it to stay here

Borgo Grondaie is an excellent place to get a feel for Tuscan hospitality and country living. Rooms give one the sense of staying in a family guest house, and the staff are friendly and exceedingly helpful. For anyone who's up for a bit of exercise, the hotel is about a 30 minutes' walk from the Campo; for anyone with small children or trouble walking on hills, it's a quick cab ride to the city center (there's also a city bus from the train station). We've stayed in fancier places, but Borgo Grondaie truly helped make Siena a highlight of our last trip. We can't wait to come back for a longer stay.

A quiet retreat from tourists

What a great way to end our busy European holiday with this ideal apartment a little way from the hustle and bustle of old Siena. Handy to a greAt Coop and shopping mall, we treated ourselves to a few home-cooked suppers. The staff were friendly and helpful with train, bus and directions. This was excellent value in beautiful Tuscany!

Nice hotel close to the walled city of Siena

Posted Oct 1, 2013
Nice hotel with kitchen, we really enjoyed this hotel. The location is down the hill from the walled city of Siena but we felt like we were in the country. Great pool for the kids and after a long day of walking. We didn't have a car but used the bus to take us up the hill, no problem. Close to a grocery store, which was fun to explore. The breakfast at the hotel was great and staff was great.

beautiful

We had a family 'apartment' which didn't include breakfast but a grocery store was a short walk away and the cooking facilities in the unit were good. There was a small countertop oven and gas cooktop - small refrigerator. Bring your own pool towels as there is a charge to use the hotel's.

Clean, comfortable, friendly. Pool was gorgeous and much appreciated in 39 degree weather. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Best all round!

Great hotel, great location, the most friendly and helpful staff! So some people will not like the 20 minute walk in to town, but by the time you get there you look forward to that cold beer! Taxi home at night is 9 Euros with a tip. Nice to come back too after a days touring or shopping, then a swim in a fantastic pool with great views. All in all a must stay hotel!!

Outside of Siena walls

Pros: Gardens and pool
Cons: They seemed to have a lot of rules...don't take bathroom towels to pool bring your own. Umm, we didn't bring towels from the US!
Location: Have to walk into Siena, a beautiful village. A good base for wandering around Tuscany. Rental car needed!
A nice place, beautiful gardens and pool. Pretty close to town and a large market is down the street.

Great location walking distance to Sienna

Posted Jul 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
A great place to base a trip to Sienna. Beautiful gardens, rooms, pool and great service and food (breakfast only - no dinner options). Easy access to Sienna (20 minute walk) using the 8 escalators by the train station which eliminates having to walk up the hill.
