We only booked one night at Fattoria Voltrona and wished we had stayed here longer. We would definitely consider using it as a base for exploring more of Tuscany in a subsequent trip.
The farm was actually fairly easy to find, despite of its rural location. A GPS helps, of course, but the directions on their website were very accurate.
Check in was quick and very courteous. We were showed to our room, which was at the very end of the upstairs hallway, with a view of the grounds behind the building as well as the beautiful pool. The room was quite big and the bed comfortable.
The grounds outside were majestic, with the rolling hills of Tuscany surrounding us. Vines and olive trees were everywhere. The pool was definitely a highlight; the water was too cold for my taste this early in the season but my partner enjoyed her time in the cool water. It does help to have such a view surrounding you! A short walk down from the pool is a nice pond and the icelandic horses a bit beyond that. After our walk, we bought a bottle of their very nice Vernaccia wine and had a drink on the outdoor terrace behind the restaurant building. All very enchanting!
We had supper at the farm and had fun eating at the same table as other guests. Dinner was average, in my opinion. It appeared to me like there wasn't that much food available, especially for the meat course, The wine however was plentiful, and very good.
Unfortunately, we were leaving early to drive to Florence and catch a train so we couldn't enjoy the included breakfast.
Fattoria Voltrona is definitely a place I would go back to!
