Pros: Claudia was great and the hotel has real charm!
Cons: WiFi...nice that it's free but only works half the time according to my son. .
We really liked the Hotel Arcobaleno. Claudia manages the hotel she is awesome...so helpful with whatever you need. Nice breakfast in both the inside dining area and a charming porch. Rooms are clean and nice. Nice restaurant below the hotel that has good food at good prices. Parking is good and a big plus!

lovely hotel and terrace

Posted May 22, 2014
Pros: gardens and terraced area and views over countryside
Cons: apart from distance from town everything was excellent
Location: again as above. nice to go to the walled town and look through the shopping area and the duomo's and squares.
great place to visit, siena is a lovely place, hotel little far from town, and not that easy to walk along the side of the road, but overall nice.

Lovely and Quiet

Posted Jun 3, 2013
Pros: Quiet, helpful staff
Cons: There was a downside?
Location: about 20 minutes down hill to the edge of the old centre of Siena, bus stops nearby
This hotel is 15-20 minutes walk to Porta Camollia, one of the entrances to the old centre of Siena. It is set back a litte from the street so even if you have a front facing room, the noise shouldn't be a factor. It is wonderfully maintained with a nice lounge area and the breakfast buffet has a nice selection (still european - no hot food). The room was large, clean and all the amenties worked. The front reception was always occupied and the ladies behind the counter were helpful with any question I asked, whether it was on language, postage, or dinner reccomendations. The hotel was quiet and seemed to mostly have couples or families with moderately aged children. The noise from the hallways could be loud but between rooms it was nice. I definitely recommend this hotel, if you are driving through or want a place outside the noise and bustle of the old centre. There is a bus stop convieniently nearby if you would rather leave your car at the hotel.

The Hotel Arcobaleno provided us with a very nice stay. Just a 20 minute walk to the piazza. The hotel was clean and updated. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly.

A Gem of a Hotel

Posted Jul 18, 2012
Pros: Great airconditioning, a plus in the summer. Very helpful, efficient, and friendly staff. A good breakfast.
Cons: Having to ride the bus to town. On the upside, it gave us an opportunity to interact with locals on a daily basis and experience real senese life.
Location: Outside of the historic center. But, very beautiful and quiet and a 10 minute walk to the train station.
The service at this hotel was superb. We had many questions and requests, and they were all met in a friendly and professional way. To get to the historic center, you have to take the local bus. At first we thought it was a drawback, but it wasn't, as it gave us a chance to interact with the locals and to experience how they lived. On the other hand, the train station, is only a short walk away, which was great when taking day trips to other towns. Our stay included breakfast. It consisted mainly of a variety of coffees, sweets, breads, cereals, and coldcuts. Everything was very fresh and delicious and you save lots of Euros. We visited in the Summer when Tuscany is extremely HOT, so needless to say, the excellent central air conditioning throughout the hotel was actually one of our favorite features. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay, and we highly recommend this hotel to anyone who does not want to be smack in the center of town surrounded by thousands of tourists 24/7.

Homely hotel

We found the reception staff at the hotel very friendly and most welcoming. They were very patience with my attempts at Italian.Reception was staffed at night too. They were great on supplying us with local info, sold us bus tickets to get into town and ordered a taxi for us at the end of our stay. The hotel only has about 17 rooms and is an old house. Our room was a twin and we felt it was big enough for the 4 days we stayed. The air conditioning worked fine.We liked the homely atmosphere and the breakfasts which had plenty of variety. You need to take the bus into town as the hotel is near the train station. We enjoyed using the bus and the locals chatted to us! You can also walk into town-about 20 mins stroll.Siena is a beautiful place and we would recommend this hotel to people who like old -fashioned courtesy and charm.

Staff stepped it up

Initially disappointed when the room smelled like tobacco smoke-prior guests didn't pay attention to the no-smoking rules. We wanted another room, but they didn't have a room for 3 available. While we were out at dinner, however, the staff at thee front desk (who were just incredibly friendly and helpful) got entirely new linens, aired out the room, etc., which made a huge difference. They also gave us wine and snacks to take the edge off. Room was decent size, beds comfortable enough, great common area (including the enclosed sunroom), breakfast was adequate. Pretty good location, though a good ten-minute walk to the north gate to the city, and another 10-15 minute walk to the town center. We were disappointed that the restaurant was closed for renovations. All in all, a cute hotel, well-priced, and we'd go back. The staff there was the best.
