Close to city centerPosted Mar 4, 2014
The owner was very nice and helpful. Our room was very small and you could barely fit into the shower stall which was no bigger than a phone booth. I saw a room across the hall which appeared to be much nicer and bigger than my room but I don't know what you have to do to get a better room.

Close to old town entrance.Posted Nov 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
Staff was helpful. Location is within walking distance to older central town but walk is all uphill and then still another uphill kilometer to central square. However, this seems best location if driving and needing to park. View of valley from window was outstanding.

Beautiful view of Tuscan countrysidePosted Sep 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
Even though hotel is in the city you feel like you are in the countryside when you look out your window. Room was clean, but a little small. Bathroom was clean and modern. Staff was helpful. We needed to do laundry and they offered to send it out one day and back the next. Saved us a trip to laundry. Location is good right outside the gates to old town, and they had free parking as well.

amazing view!Posted Sep 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
Amazing view from our bedroom and not far away from the heart of Siena. (20-30 min walk). Perfect if you are visiting Siena by car and need a place to park it. (the city center is closed to non residents) Bus and taxi available for reaching the main attractions in Siena. Do not expect the latest design in the bedrooms, the bathroom was small but the bed was very comfortable. The staff is friendly. It was perfect for our one night visit to Siena.

Fabulous, though reception staff were rudePosted Sep 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
The jacuzzi overlooking the rolling tuscan countryside was magic, the rooms were clean and comfortable. there were no lifts for the multistoried hotel so if you have lots of luggage, prepare for the potential that you may need to carry your gear up several flights of stairs. Reception staff weren't entirely friendly and sometimes verged on the side of rude but the rest of the staff, especially those serving breakfast on the terrace overlooking the olive groves (bliss) were positively lovely. Despite the attitude of reception staff, I'd recommend it.

Great location for Siena. Fantastic views over surrounding countryside. No air con however.

Beautiful views of countrysidePosted Aug 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
Just a 5 minute walk from the Siena city walls (walking down a very pretty street), and as soon as you enter the hotel property you have a magnificent view of the Tuscan countryside. Wonderful outdoor breakfast room (with weather protection), and a nice breakfast spread. We were a couple sharing a triple room with our teenage son, and it was large enough for all of us. Included a free parking spot.

Weekend in TuscanyPosted Jul 24, 2013
My husband and I stopped here during a long-weekend touring Tuscany. The views are superb. The room was simple but very comfortable. There was plenty of hot water and a hair dryer. The staff was very helpful and directed us to a wonderful restaurant in walking distance. Because we were outside the city walls we did not have to worry about parking or tour groups. I would recommend the hotel to anybody

A gem of a hotelPosted Jul 16, 2013
Pros: The room and the view
Cons: The additional charge for the hot tub
Location: The location was perfect - wonderful views and only a 10 minute walk to the centre of Siena
This hotel was a brilliant find in Siena. It was easy to find with a private car park and fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. The centre of Siena was a short walk from the hotel with plenty to see on the way. There's no restaurant, but the guy on reception recommended two nearby that were both superb and very reasonably priced. As appears to be usual with Italian hotels there was no tea or coffee in the room, but we asked for them when we wanted one and there were also vending machines available. There is a bar and a lovely terrace, but we didn't bother with the hot tub as it cost 9 euros per person extra.

Amazing views in a lovely cityPosted May 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
We were relatively happy with our stay in Hotel Porta Romana but because weather was a bit poor we didn't get full enjoyment of its best point - the countryside views. It's location is good, just far enough outside Siena to be able to walk in comfortably while staying in a very nice location on the city's edge. Staff were very friendly but our room was quite small and we could hear a lot of noise from other rooms and passing traffic in the corridors. Breakfast was limited but not a lot worse than the other four Italy hotels we stayed in over our two week visit. For the price I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good location and unbeatable views. The hotel's website promises free use of the hot-tub in certain cases, but this did not appear to be the case during our visit.
