A bust
Posted Jan 10, 2012 on Hotels.com
Maybe okay for people expecting an "agriturismo" with limited services, but inappropriate for us. No air conditioning (in July). No help getting luggage up a narrow staircase. No hair dryer or shampoo in the bathroom. No breakfast available - despite what the listing promises. No English spoken at reception, in a country where seemingly every waiter and cab driver speaks fluent English. This may be great for people with the right expectations, but it was a mistake for us.

Residence Brizio - off the beaten path
Posted Jan 3, 2010 on Hotels.com
Even with a GPS it was tricky finding the Residence podere Brizio, especially since we arrived after dark. Only a small sign pointed the way from the "main" road up the gravel road to the residence. Luckily, a very old man in the tiny village across the street gave us directions...sempre dritto. Upon arrival, an old man greeted us and checked us in and showed us to our large room. The kids liked him very much. We were very happy with the space, beds, kitchen, and bathroom. The room was clean. Sat TV worked. Hot water was hot. The radiators didn't quite do the job, but it was early November so it wasn't too cold. In the morning we finally saw how beautiful the place was. We were surrounded by fields of grape vines and olive trees. Everything grows there. We had a nice, modest breakfast with coffee, milk, juice, and croissants. The kids got to run around. We did have trouble falling asleep since it was so peaceful and quiet....we are used to the city noises. Also, suggest you pack your own and cook dinner in your room. The residence is about 5 miles from Montalcino, and the views are spectacular. It's probably not the fanciest or most popular place to stay, but we enjoyed our stay and would return, especially in spring or summer when the pool is open.

Tuscany farmhouse a gem in the vines

wonderful setting; very much off the beaten path, perhaps hard to find. Patrons are friendly but speak little english. Apartments are clean, spacious and fully stocked with appliances and utencils for cooking, if desired. Nearest town is Montepulcino, a lovely country side discovery! No restaurant on premises, so either prepare it yourself, or drive to town for food. clean, very spacious, wonderful experience.

Lovely house in a lovely setting

This is a wonderful property and for the price it cannot be beat. Approximately 10 minutes from Montalcino, the road is good and the views wonderful. The apartment had everything we needed with simple furnishings. Bathrooms were modern and clean. Rolls and coffee for breakfast are served by a very nice couple. The room used for breakfast is bare and cold, but they are going to upgrade this. I definitely recommend this property if you want to stay in the area and not pay too high a price.

Montalcino Getaway
Posted Jan 30, 2009
This was a perfect and affordable place for my son and me to use as a base of operations for our Tuscany wine tour. Minutes from Montalcino and its great Brunello tasting opportunities. Beautiful swiming pool overlooking the property's vinyards (which produce one of the better Brunellos). Clay tennis court. Nice Tuscan breakfast.

This is a beautiful place with clean and confortable accomodaton surrounded by stunning Tuscan countryside. Not too hard to find by car and has a tennis court and swimming pool. Owners don't speak much English so brush up on your italian before you go to gain as much as possible.

Good Value

Good value. simple country style furnishings and basic cooking gear. studio accomodations convenient to save on eating out. great pool to cool off in summer. convenient location in pretty countryside. Suspect it would be cold in winter. "service" means continental breakfast in the morning. supposedly have someone on-site for check in until 9PM. Owners speak italian only but son is fluent in English. No maid or laundry service is included. May want to buy some cheap towels in town to have a few more since not changed out.

Pretty Tuscan place outside of Maltacino
Posted Jan 13, 2008
This place is really charming and out in the countryside. If you are looking for a quiet place to just relax this would be it. Our room had a full kitchen. This seems to be more like an agroturism hotel because when we checked in at 7:00 p.m. the reception desk was closed and we had to call the owner at his house. Not convenient since we spoke no Italian and he spoke no English. He did make the trip out to let us in which we greatly appreciated. Be prepared to pay extra for using the heater and a per person cleaning fee per day. No credit cards accepted on-site. Although we had some problems when we checked out with communication and the bill this is a nice place to stay.

Very relaxing but more attention to detail
Posted Jan 4, 2008
Overall it is wonderful relaxing place, with a lovely big pool and gardens. However, although tennis courts are advertise these were not up and running. We paid for buffet breakfast, but in fact only received some dried up croissants in a bag, and butter and jam in small containers in the fridge. These had to last us several days, so don't waster the extra money on this. The accomodation is very spacious and clean and would recommend a stay here if you want to get away from it all.
