Cons: Free internet in the room would be a plus.
Location: Very close to Raffles and the hop on hop off bus stop.
Stayed while going to and coming from a cruise. Were upgraded on our return trip. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. Taxis easy to come by.

Great hotel to stay in but the old building needs more attention, especially with the plumbing.

Good location, average room, nice pool!Posted Feb 28, 2014
Pros: Swimming pool
Cons: Rooms need to be renovated and newer TVs.
Location: Close to subway leading you to all major shopping...
We stayed in this hotel for 10 nights. We love to be able to take dips and swim in this hotel's pool, especially in tropical environment like Singapore. A pool to escape and laid back is essential. Very convenient location to subway stations. Then we stayed 2 nights in Marina Bay Sands which is spectacular, double the price of Carlton. Of course, we don't want to compare the two. But if Marina Bay Sands is 5 star, then Carlton is 3 1/2 stars. Good for budget travellers!

Recently updated and extended hotel.Posted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location
Cons: Stop charging for every little thing. The rooms are not cheap, the hotel can afford to give guests coffee and wifi.. Not as welcoming as it used to be
Location: Very central. Near to Raffles, MRT, Clarke Quay. Easy to get around.
This was my 3rd stay at The Carlton and the first since it had extensive building work with 2 new wings. The rooms were nicely done, although grey walls, grey carpet and grey bedding did make it rather dark. 3 particular concerns during my stay 1. Not the hotels fault but a previous occupant had either smoked in the room (it was a no smoking room) or had been such a heavy smoker that the smell lingered, half a bottle of room spray solved the problem. 2. Free wifi only available in lobby area, and that information is not given anywhere I only found out when I failed to connect in my room and had to ask for help at reception. 3. A Nespresso machine is provided with a box containing capsules, it is not made clear anywhere that these are chargeable, the free sachets and kettle are well hidden in the drawer. I only discovered they were chargeable when I returned to room to find a completed mini bar slip, a complaint to reception did get charge refunded but beware!

Excellent locationPosted Feb 17, 2014
Pros: The great location, cleanliness and bathrooms in the Premier rooms.
Cons: Customer service.
Location: As above - Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, Raffles, Raffles City, Fort Canning, Plaza Singapura, Arab and Bugis streets, Marina, Chijmes
We were on a repeat stay at the Carlton after a previously enjoyable stay. The room was excellent, very clean and a nice size. Really love the set up of the bathroom. The hotel is very well located and close to MRT, many shops and great restaurants. Movenpick and Brotzeit are great for breakfast if you want to eat outside the hotel. Many major destinations are within easy walking distance such as Clark Quay, Boat Quay, Plaza Singapore, Arab Street and Bugis Street etc. Recommend a better system for coordinating taxis as the attendant forgot that he sent our taxi around the back and we had to remind him after waiting a while for it to come around again. He had forgotten. Also, perhaps some recognition of repeat customers and bringing new customers in would be nice as we paid more for our Premier room and our friends (who were first time visitors) were upgraded to a similar room so paid less than us for the same room. Only a minor gripe as we really enjoyed our stay there and will stay there again.

Quality Business HotelPosted Feb 15, 2014
Pros: Good Service
Cons: Breakfast in Executive room
Location: Chijmes across the road - lots of restaurants. Raffles City Shopping Mall opposite. Raffles Hotel across the road
I stay here regularly with an executive room, giving me access to the business lounge. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Great location to underground rail system, shopping mall, next to Raffles and close taxi ride to all of singapore attractions. Highly recommended

Great location and spacious roomPosted Feb 14, 2014
Pros: The space offered to guests
Cons: The concierge service wasn't efficient.
The location of the hotel is great! The room is spacious and comfortable. Although the room looks a bit old, it is clean and well-maintained.
