It is lovely to be able to get space in a room. Nice berds. If you have a late flight and have checked out, you get a whole new room for up to an hour in which to freshen up

Lots of old world charm

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Old world charm and location
Cons: New softer beds!!
Location: Close to everything. Shops, restaurants, banks etc
Beautiful old hotel, however rooms were small and beds uncomfortable. Hotel surroundings and grounds were lovely and it was very conveniently situation near Orchard Road and the main shopping centres. We paid for a deluxe room which I thought was overlooking the pool, however, we were put in a front room with smoked glass screens so you couldn't see out of the windows. The room smelt musty so we asked to be moved. We ended up in the newer smaller rooms overlooking the back pool of the property. View was lovely, but bed was uncomfortable and room was very tiny.

Central/Downtown

I have been here since I arrived a week ago and it's been a wonderful experience with the best, most polite staff. The facilities are great and when there's been an issue they've fixed it straightaway (air conditioning in the ParkLane Suites). If staying in the Deluxe Room, ask for the new wing - it's wonderfully redone and fresh and modern. Truly comfortable stay. I will definitely come back with my family next time!

Step back in time

Pros: It is a really elegant hotel with excellent facilities. The 12 noon checkout was also appreciated.
Location: Very well located to shopping in Orchard Road.
We really enjoyed the ambience and first class presentation of the hotel which was ideally situated close to shops and transport.

It's Goodwood Park!

Posted Jun 15, 2014
Pros: Despite being so close to the crowds on Scotts Road and Orchard Road, it is an oasis of space, peace and quiet.
Cons: If the cost of in-room services was halved, you might actually want to use them.
Location: Goodwood Park is in the retail hub of Singapore located on Scotts Road near the junction with Orchard Road. Both low and high end retail is close by.
Goodwood Park is Goodwood Park! It is an experience. It has a special place in Singapore's hotels. Like the Raffles, it was a hotel before many of the international chains were founded. Unlike the Raffles, it has been updated over time with a touch of class. Many think the Goodwood Park Afternoon Tea the best in town ...... and that is how most people know this Singaporean institution. But GP is much more than just its Afternoon Tea. We were in a Deluxe Poolside Suite which opens directly onto the smaller (much quieter) Mayfair Pool. A fantastic room, worth every cent of the extra cost over a standard room. Very comfortable. From the start, the concierge, reception and lobby staff make you feel entirely at home. Friendly but always professional. If reception needs something, they come to you, not "please come to reception". Reception went out of their way to help us fix a problem with one of our credit cards (not the pre-approved one). GP still provides traditional 5* quality service. Just try the Gordon Grill or even in-room dining. Service is very efficient but less frenetic than some other hotels. Our stay was for rest & relaxation - the end of a long overseas tour. GP was the perfect spot. Despite its central location, we could lie by the pool and watch birds flying around the poolside foliage. There was no obvious traffic noise. Even the few kids in the pool were well behaved and under constant parental control. As Singapore goes, this is heaven.

Very helpful staff

The hotel is well located close to Orchard Road (the high end shopping district). The hotel is situated in spacious grounds, which is welcome amongst the high rises. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.

Noise from adjoining room

Posted Jun 4, 2014
I have stayed at this hotel several times in recent years but this time was given a room with a door interconnecting with the next room. well let me tell you there is no acoustic attenuation value in this set up and I could listen to my neighbors every move. I contacted the desk and was promptly moved which was a good result but disappointing that I had to go through the hassle. Also, I was unlucky enough to miss my flight out and needed to stay 2 extra nights in Singapore. I contacted the hotel immediately (1/2 hour after checking out) and the best rate they would give me was $140 more per night more than i had paid for the previous 3 nights I stayed there. Pretty mean I thought.

Disappointed

Posted Jun 1, 2014
We booked the Deluxe Mayfair room with a balcony looking out to the pool/garden. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded. When shown the room it was bigger but it had tiny windows with no view, no balcony and very claustrophobic feeling . We explained we wanted a balcony and then got taken to the room we booked but the balcony was covered with scaffolding. Not happy we requested another room and got taken to another one with a balcony except this time there was construction work going on at a building next door which was loud. Then on going back down to reception they take us to another room with a balcony - only half covered with scaffolding this time. Extremely unhappy now and we went back again to reception where they now take us back to the original claustrophobic room. Ahhhhhhhh!!!!! In the end we settled for a suite across from the hotel that badly needed updating and wasn't very clean but by this stage we had had enough and just wanted a room. If they weren't able to give us what we requested then they should have let us know before hand to give us the opportunity to choose whether we stayed there or not.

Goodwood Park: Timeless Historical Jewel

Posted May 18, 2014
Everything about my stay was wonderful. Staff was top notch, felt very pampered and taken care of! Idil, was fantastic...definitely can see why he has his keys proudly worn on his jacket. Rooms were clean but not spectacular...it is a historic hotel! The location was great, easy to get to Orchard and the shopping. And there was shopping right next door as well but not the name brand locations some might desire (name brand and upscale shopping is on Orchard). The hotel is situated across from the American Club. Felt VERY safe! I would stay again.
