Very personal service

It was lovely to be greeted by the same staff every time we returned from our day trips. The man at reception was extremely efficient and helpful. The young guys in the restaurant were very helpful and friendly, they all made our holiday very relaxed.

Nice hotel away from noise

Posted Oct 9, 2014
The room reminded me of an old hotel, but was completely updated and lacked nothing. The bed was very soft so I got the best night's rest since leaving home. The only negative was that it was a bit of a walk to the metro.

Pros: The room rates can be cheap because its far from the business district.
Cons: A generous bigger room?
Location: For muslim couple, not much to do. But there is a halal hawker centre be hid the hotel.
Well presented hotel in terms of vintage nostalgic theme. We get what we paid for, small room for small rates. Quite a walking distance away from MRT and taxi is hard to catch.

Lovely little hotel in beautiful area

Posted Oct 3, 2014
We had a wonderful stay - the area a great mix of old Singapore with more upmarket or amazingly cheap and tasty local market foods. There is easy access via MRT or bus to all areas of Singapore. Staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, our room was more than adequate and beds exceptionally comfortable.

Lovely 'boutique' hotel in Tiong Bahru.

Posted Sep 30, 2014
I had passed this hotel many times in past visits to Singapore , on my way to the Tiong Bahru market food centre. Decided to try it out. It has an excellent location; close to bus stops and a fairly short walk to Tiong Bahru MRT station, giving access to the whole of the island. The room I was given was smaller that the rooms offered in the 'Riverside' hotel chains complex nearby...but I expected this. The decor of the room was very pleasing on the eye. Sleeping was a dream....excellent cotton bedding...including, what certainly felt like, down-filled pillows. Excellent. No bath...but a clean and modern looking shower room. I had booked a room with a balcony....and it was perfect for me. I was able to sit in the evenings reading, drinking beer and puffin' away on a Cohiba (not in the room of course). Only drawback for some travellers would be the lack on storage space in the room. The limited storage space was also rather high up' As a single traveller of average height with hand-baggage this was not a problem for me. For a short couple with large suitcases... Would I stay again? You betcha!

Nice hotel with friendly staff

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: market is near the hotel. nice staff. pretty clean room and bath. free bottled water. pool.
Cons: bath tub, correct clock, volume of the TV when turning it on, and hair on linen.
Location: market, seven eleven, and other convenience store, and coin laundry.
Nice hotel, but a little far from MRT station when we are tired. The staff prepared our room around noon to check in which was helpful. Clean, but no bath tub. stool would not wet when we shower. The hotel has a laundry service, but we used a coin laundry, which was 5 min walk from the hotel. it costs $6 to wash and $4 to dry. The clock of the room was wrong, so it should be set at the right time. When we turned on the TV, the set sound was too loud. One time, we got back the hotel over midnight, but there was a staff and there was no problem. But overall, we enjoyed the hotel and Singapore. p.s. First day, there were 4 bottled water, but rest of the days, we got 2 bottled water. That's fine, but we just wonder.

Nice, very inviting hotel

Pros: The welcoming by staff and the beautiful flowers in foyer, so pleasing to your senses, very nicely appointed decor
Cons: Sorry that breakfast was not included was about all
Location: Out a bit, need taxi to most places, close to China town and $20 taxi fare from airport
My husband and I had a flight arrival time of 6am , took a taxi straight to this hotel arriving about 7.30am very tired and weather hot/humid. The receptionist, seeing us arrive came out to greet us and offered us water. As we were not entitled to book into our room till 2pm we were offered for $60 extra to gain access to our room immediately which we accepted. We felt it very convenient and they couldn't be more helpful, much appreciated

Great friendly staff, good location close to MRT

Posted Sep 14, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Nothing
Location: Chinatown. MRT, bus stop
We arrived very early and the staff allowed us to check in hours before the standard check in of 2:00pm. This was great as we were jet lagged! The hotel is close to transport and 10 min. walk to Chinatown. Rooms are lovely and there is great coffeee shop just behind the hotel.

Great Hotel Staff

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: The staff are great
Cons: The rooms are small, but that did not bother us, as we just used the hotel to sleep in and the outside Bar to watch the world pass by.
Location: The Tiong Bahru market is a great place to have lunch. Very cheap and good food, as long as you like to try the food that the locals eat.
The Nostalga Hotel is small and friendly and in a great location. It is just out of the main CBD so you get the benefits of suburbia but a 10 minute bus ride ($1.30) to the city. The staff is what makes the Nostalga a great place to stay, you are not just a number. The take interst in who you are, your likes and dislikes and are happy to accommodate your variations from the main stream. This Hotel is for the people who want a personal holiday place to stay. Highly recommended
