Elegant Hotel

Posted Apr 15, 2014
This hotel was everything one would expect it to be and then some. The service was excellent, from day one we were greeted by our names and every day after. The room was immaculate, with lots of space and a very comfortable bed. The food was delicious, and a plethora of choices from the breakfast buffet. I cannot find any fault in this hotel and would highly recommend to anyone.

Once in a lifetime

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Booked as 48th anniversary present for parents. They loved it. Family all visited room and hotel provided com plimentary bottle wine and juice for kids. Room was fantastic but very expensive so probably first and last. I paid £650 but could have got it for £450 if I'd booked on the day.

The Only Place To Stay In Singapore

Posted Mar 31, 2014
Pros: Staff, service, atmosphere
Cons: Nothing
Location: Near to all shopping. Raffles City just across the road, not far from Orchard Road - main shopping area. Shops in the hotel as well.
Absolutely wonderful stay. Staff are attentive but not intrusive. Service is everything. Great restaurant, Long Bar Grill - got to dine there once just for the experience. Singapore Sling in the Long Bar - a touch of history. Fabulous grounds with lots of seating for quiet, peaceful reflection. Best hotel I have stayed in, better than so many other 5 star hotels. Highly recommended.

Colonial charm

Posted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: See above
Cons: The bathroom was OK but could be improved
Location: Too busy working to see much but he Raffles arcade shops were good
Raffles hotel has been superbly renovated to a high standard. As a woman travelling alone on business, I was well looked after. Service in the hotel was excellent. The atmosphere was of a sophisticated tropical, well-adapted building. The extensive gardens, courtyards, verandas and balconies were much pleasanter than a high rise enclosed modern building. Food was excellent.

A wonderful week

Posted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: The situation, the ambience, the excellent staff
Cons: Nothing specific
Location: Walking distance to Orchard Road shopping malls, Colonial district, Arab district; Sultan mosque, Little India, Marina Bay.
Just returned from a week at the Raffles, staying in one of the Palm Court suites, 217. Building work is taking place on a tower block opposite but thankfully any building noise ended in the evening and sleeping was no problem. The staff were unfailingly courteous, kind and helpful. I was alone, awaiting the arrival of my husband by sea, so the staff help and support was very welcome. The Singapore Slings in the Long Bar tasted excellent and they do still throw the nutshells on the floor. There is a delightful rooftop pool and bar area, wonderful for late afternoon swimming, although I was slightly concerned at the pigeons coming down to bathe at the side of the pool and drink the water - no ill effects were experienced by me however. I loved the colonial style suites with their parlours, big beds and air conditioning, very welcome at the end of a hot humid Singapore day. Excellent coffee and cake in the onsite Ah Tang bakery and coffee shop. We did not eat lunch or dinner in Raffles as we were spoiled for dining choices in Singapore; had aperitifs in the Writers' Bar. I can't wait to return, it lived up to its reputation

As expected .... BUT .....

Posted Jan 15, 2014
Cons: Service in the Long Bar very slow.
The once in a lifetime stay that everyone must do is Raffles. This colonial historic building has all the ingredients of a wonderful experience. All the staff are outstanding. Rooms old but comfortable and that's part of their charm. But .... your hotel room package does not include breakfast which as an extra comes at a $64 each price tag plus tax and service. For great food at great value go across the road to Marche. But .... anything you buy is horrendously expensive - even charged us for a water when in fact it should be free. We drank our complimentary welcoming Singapore Sling drink in the Long Bar but made sure this was deducted from our bill by Reception

Wow!!!

Pros: Everything,
I stayed at Raffles following a three week cruise with Seabourn, and a two night stay at the Four Season's in Hong Kong (also fabulous). Raffles, and Singapore, were the highlight of my trip. I can't even begin to tell you how attentive the staff is - every need is met. We stayed through Christmas, and the hotel was beautifully decorated. They had Carolers on Christmas Eve, and left little presents in your room. I asked for a wake-up call one morning, and the receptionist asked if she should have my coffee brought up 10 minutes after - I was in heaven. Every night a little story was left on our bed, and on the final night our bed was covered in rose petals and a thank-you card from the hotel manager. The best part is that all this is done without any snobbery. Even though it is a tourist destination, They keep it very private, tourist are not allowed past the front lobby, and have to walk outside to see the restraints and shopping. The whole experience, is always about you, the guest.
