“Best choice for tourists in Singapore”
Only 5 minutes walking from Orchard road and MRT station. Opposite to a park, can walk, can enjoy calm asmotphere. Large, traditional room. Good breakfast. Good view. The price is reasonable! It's sure that I'll stay at YWCA Fort Canning Lodge when I come to Singapore next time.
“Nice hotel at a good location”
Nice hotel at a good location. All city locations at a walking distance.
“Good value”
The room was huge. The front desk was helpful and willing to let me check-in way before the check in time. Because I had to check out very early in the morning, they gave me a quick breakfast to take to the airport. The hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the subway station and 2 stops away from the Orchard Road shopping district. The only negative thing about this hotel is there was no concierge, so you had to bring your own luggages to the room.
“Nice”
Overall, a very nice hotel for the money. They were in the process of renovating the rooms during our stay but the inconveinence was minimized. They had a very nice breakfast buffet in the mornings.
“Base Singapore”
I stayed in the YWCA on three separate occasions on my recent trip to Asia. The hotel is very large, well=-located and professionally run. For those who are surprised that a man can stay at the YWCA, the upper floors are a hotel, and the lower the actual YWCA. I was given a very large room, but unfortunately I left the air conditioning on high the first night, and got a nasty cold! Take care! The second time I was given a large room, but near the engine room, which was very noisy. However, there was no problem in getting it changed. It seems to be as good for the money as anywhere else in Singapore
“Location at a reasonable price”
Just a walk away from the park, from Orchard Street, and the subway. The breakfast was plentiful with quite a bit of variety to choose from on the buffet. Great place for a tourists to explore Hong Kong for a good price. Nothing fancy, but clean and with friendly staff who arranged transportation back to the airport for us, charging both to/from to our hotel bill.
“Not impressed”
For the price, it is all right to stay a couple of days.
“Small, simple & out of date BUT worth the price!”
As described online, the room was small and simple. Nothing fancy but in a good location. The breakfast buffet was better than anticipated. The building is fairly old and not up to date, but worth the price we paid.
“Fort canning Lodge”
It was a pleasant stay in this hotel. Simple, clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful.Breakfast was better than expected, there was a nice spread of food.
“Solid value, shabby bathroom, nice location”
Pros: Location was really convenient to the subway, and right next to a pretty park. Service was friendly and efficient at check-in and check-out, and the wake up call came from a real person. Rate was good and in a moderate, sweet spot. More expensive than the lowest price chain hotel options in Singapore that seem to cater to (very) short term guests, and significantly cheaper than the many high end options that don't make sense for budget travelers. Cons: Bathroom was shabby and the shower leaked. In general, the room and building felt pretty dated. Basically I felt like I got what I paid for - and nothing more. In the future, I'd try something less expensive given the minimal amenities offered here. Wifi isn't free.
