Econo Lodge Le Mars

Posted Jan 6, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff.
Cons: Finish remodeling the indoor pool area.
Location: Ice cream manufacturing is what the town is know for.
We had a small dog with us. It was no problem with having him in the room. The staff was friendly to my family including the dog. The room was clean. The complementary breakfast was the best we had on our road trip at three differnet hotels/motels. The only grip I had was the indoor pool area was going through remodeling and was inaccessible.

Pros: Price
Cons: The bathroom grout was disgustingly dirty. take the indoor heated pool off your advertising, change the sausage gravy used it tastes spoiled.
Location: Walmart and a shopping plaza with a few stores is right behind. Lots of food choices close by.
When we did our search it was for a hotel with an indoor pool, Wi-Fi, and free breakfast. We wanted to stay in the town where our kids live but decided on LeMars as it was not that far away and it had everything we were looking for at a better rate. We knew it was not the Holiday Inn but we expected it to have what was advertised, what drew us there in the first place. We got to the hotel after 2pm(check in according to the website) and the rooms were not ready. We went to the store and came back. We checked in, our kids came and we got ready to swim went to the lobby and they said the pool was down pipes broke and it had to be drained. When we asked how long it had been down we were told over a year and it was going to be reconstructed into a lounge area. We were very disappointed as swimming was our plan for the afternoon.

We enjoyed our stay at Econo Lodge. Had to go down 5 steps to our level 1, but manageable. People were very nice. Breakfast was great! Pool was closed, but we were too busy to use it anyway. (for construction). Room was clean and comfortable.

not clean

Posted Oct 1, 2013 on Hotels.com
I'm not a very picky person but I thought this hotel was very dirty. Our room smelled horrible, we had stains on our furniture in our room and the bed felt very worn and used. We also used the pool which we discovered the water was very salty which I've never discovered before. The door in the back of the hotel was wrapped up with duck tape and the security card reader wasnt needed so anybody could walk in. The hallways smelled bad also. I just felt dirty there!

Clean and Affordable

It's not fancy, but it's about half the price of the nearby Holiday Inn. The room was clean, well maintained, and affordable. I would stay there again.

Extremely disappointed. We had to wait for about 15 minutes for someone show up when we arrived for check-in (approx. 3 pm). We were told our room may have an odor since it was on the first floor and subject to dampness. (wife is disabled and can't climb stairs.) We did indeed have an odor of a damp musty smell, just hope there is no unseen black mold growing in there as my wife already has lung problems. Upon getting into our room, we were greeted by a ROACH in the ice bucket....I should have known then to leave. The Bed was hard as a rock and my back still hurts days later, to the point I have had to take pain relievers!!! The desk chair was stained, the carpet was stained. The bathroom definitely needed some help....the shower curtain had the infamous orange stains at the bottom from not being properly cleaned. It really should have been changed out to tell the truth. Tooth paste splatters on the mirror from previous guests. Ceiling in shower starting to drop and possibly drop debris on you during your shower. Water pressure in shower is barely a trickle. Now for security......the back door to the hotel had to push bar DUCT TAPED to the open position the entire time we were there, although there was a card reader at that entrance. Anyone could come and go whenever. Not sure this makes a lot of folks feel safe, especially female travelers with children. Staff was friendly enough. did not use pool/hot tub. This hotel is not recommended.

Stay was good but very disappointed in the dirt in the entry way and on the stairs going to the 2nd floor rear entrance. Told the clerk about it and told her I almost cancelled my room. But the room was clean so we stayed.
