Relaxing place to unwind in beautiful locationPosted Aug 17, 2014
We really enjoyed the 2 nights that we stayed here .It is on a country estate and you can wander around the grounds at will. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the food was delicious and nicely presented. The staff were very helpful. We would happily reccommend it to friends.

You will not be disappointed.Posted Aug 19, 2013
Pros: Easy going but still excellent.
Location: Ideal for skibereen and castletownsend.
Excellent service but with a relaxed attitude. Staff friendly and made you feel at home. Felt very at ease with the whole estate.

Lacking the wow factorPosted Sep 19, 2012 on Hotels.com
Lovely grounds and nice room but the finer details were sorely lacking to make this a memorable stay. Avoid the Garden Mews rooms, no view, small room and outside our room a hallway entrance door slammed shut all night with other guests coming and going. The bathrooms are clean but really need modernising. No tray in the shower, string pull lights, flimsy sliding doors. It may seem like just the small things but they all add up.

Nice hotel - needs greater attention to detailPosted Aug 1, 2012 on Hotels.com
This is a relaxing well-appointed house hotel with roomy lounge and living areas. Decor is excellent and the grounds interesting although a bit unkempt. The high quality art creates a special atmosphere and a relaxing lounge allows for mixing with other guests and watching TV. The hotel is child friendly with a well-equipped children's play room. The bedroom was well designed with a Japanese feel. Unfortunately the bed was well below standard - hard and uncomfortable. This is a major negative and is the main reason we would not consider a return visit. Housekeeping was poor - room left dusty, bed poorly made up, shower jell and shampoo not replaced. The breakfast was OK but items on the menu were not available. Evening meal was a major disappointment. I had asked for no peppers as I explained I have an allergy to them. The main fish dish arrived smothered in peppers and I had to wait 15 minutes for a replacement by which time my wife had finished her dish - very poor service. Neither my wife’s nor my meal was in any way special. The menu was misleading - chicken curry was listed as a chicken casserole! We wanted to love this hotel but left disappointed.

Awesome escapePosted Jul 28, 2012 on Hotels.com
Went there for a night - driving from Cork it took us about 1:30 hour. Lovely road to get there. We stayed in the lake lodge. The hotel is in the middle of a very nice park with pounds and a beautiful lake. We went for an awesome trip on a little boat by ourselfes. The general impression is that it is both class and very cosy / friendly. Nice staff, rooms are big, nothing extravagant but feels like staying in the country-mantion of a rich uncle! We felt very well taking care of and welcome. Dinner was nice and good value for money. Overall impression very positive (Both for couples and families as we noticed a lot of arrangment for kids)
