individual hotel in lovely townPosted Apr 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
A cut above the normal chains. Individually run and with great views over the Pagan river. Good breakfasts and mostly friendly staff. A comfortable base for exploring the region.

Nice!Posted Apr 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
The room was pretty basic but I have no complaints, especially given the low rate. The adjacent restaurant was quite good. Pretty walking trails right across the road. Recommended for a nice relaxing getaway in a cute town.

Stayed here for one night on our way to another destination. Room was fine - a bit small, but very folksy and calming. Restaurant downstairs has TERRIFIC food! While our room did not have much space, there was a sitting area at the end of the hallway that had a table and chairs that allowed us to sit and play cards while watching the boats on the river. Very comfortable; very relaxing. Complimentary breakfast the following morning was also very good - personally crafted omelets!

Nice hotel, very bad servicePosted Mar 25, 2013
Cons: Quality of Staff
The hotel is overall a nice destination but the staff is lacking any sense of good service. When checking in, we were more or less ignored by reception while she was on another call. So we decided to leave and come back later. The following morning after our stay we went down to the restaurant for breakfast which was a buffet. The food was Ok but nothing special (quite bland). Once we had finished breakfast we were presented with a bill for $30. As mentioned before our booking stated that it included breakfast so we were quite surprised. We politely mentioned this to the waitress who immediately became very hostile and told us breakfast is only included Mon - Sat. and that for Sundays 'You are on your own' and that it was our fault we ordered it. We asked if we could clear this up with the manager as our booking stated otherwise. She went off in a huff to get the manager and when he arrived he was most unhelpful acting as if this had never happened before and that we were stupid to think breakfast was included. The whole experience was very unprofessional as all we had asked was that we assumed breakfast was included due to the fact it clearly stated that on our booking. But we had been treated in such an awful manner.

Very relaxing weekend. The room was large and we enjoyed the jacuzzi and a very large balcony. I would return for another visit.

It was awesome!!! It was our anniversary week. The breakfast was so special...made to order waffles, eggs, bacon, cofee, ham biscuits and pastries. The staff made us very welcome. Gave us places to explore and enjoy. Smithfield Station was a lovely hotel with gift shops on the first level. We enjoyed our stay very much. We are looking forward to our next time.
