Overall not a bad place to stay considering the price they offer. but the amenities are not in sparkling from cleanliness, but survivable without any life risky garbage or dirt in the room, the positive thing was it is really quiet, private, no one bothers you. The minibar was refilled on daily basis, although when I checked out if I wasn't stupidly truthful, I could get away with smaller bill, as they haven't kept a correct record of what I have used . there was absolutely no shops or caffe's around in a distance of 10-15min. walk... I had to order food from a local restaurant although it was mentioned that in the hotel was a restaurant and bar, but it was opened only for breakfast. I can keep on going and going, but if you look for a cheap few day sleepover ... it is a good place to stay.

3* hotel with free parking!
Overall, good for the price paid. Bus 102 stops quite nearby and takes you downtown. The breakfast was average and could be a bit better (only one type of bread served). If you just pass through Sofia and need a place to stay overnight this is a good choice.

The description exactly matches the reality
If you are looking for outside city centre reasonable priced hotel with good breakfast ... That's a good choice. I don't think anyone can be disappointed unless expecting 5* experience in a proper 3*+ hotel.

Good for the price
Rooms are very spacious (something unusual for European hotels ). The furnishing was good, with king size bed (also not common in smaller hotels in Europe) and sofa that looked like it turns into bed. Bathtub was large, but no curtain means flood after every shower. It is on a busy main street and the noise from the cars could be heard even though our room was facing the back (parking lot). Couldn't get the wifi to work.

The most important - private parking for the hotel. Great location - not so in town, but close, calm and quiet. Standart breakfast. The hotel is very clean, the staff is nice and it's my preferred place to stay if coming with the car. For the kids is also very nice.

Decent hotel near airport and city centre
Decent hotel but could be better, helpful staff, has a car park, room was adequate, a/c worked, good WiFi, ok choice at breakfast but repeatedly luke warm, hotel lacked a bar, no gym/spa but ok for the price.

Gamble that did not pay off
I had seen the mixed reviews, but from 1 star to 5 and decided it was worth the risk. Car parking was good and checked in OK. However, we soon realised the air con wasn't working in our room. Next morning asked the middle aged receptionist with short dark hair to get the air con sorted out because we had an uncomfortable night, sweaty and too warm. With the traffic noise all night from outside, we had to leave the bedroom window slightly open to get some air. The receptionist pulled a face and said it was 'not very hot weather and air con was not needed. She pulled an agonised look on her face but agreed to get the air con looked at. On our return in the early evening the air con had not been looked at to our disbelief. We tried to cope with it but I had to go and see reception again. The same woman again pulled the same face and said 'it is not hot weather'. She said she hadn't got anyone in but anyway nobody was around to look at it. I told her this was not good enough and she finally told me she could only move us to another room, unlike earlier when she told us no other rooms were available. In the next room, the air con was actually working, and we which she demonstrated and the bathroom fan was not noisy to the point of distraction, and like the other room. We were relieved to have some comfort in our room and the new room, being to the side of the hotel, was slightly less noisy with traffic. This was not it though as I realised there was only one glass in the room!

Cheap and cheerful
It's a simple three star hotel, and it's clearly visible with room size, limited facilities and simple food, but it's clean, all things promised are in place. Good enough if you need a bed to sleep and a simple breakfast.

Good enough if you are not too picky
Good enough for one-night stay. Downsides were: No kettle in the room, fridge needs defrosting, noisy air conditioner of old type. In the two-rooms suite air conditioner is in the central room only.

Nice hotel
Had great time there, the hotel is quiet well kept and rooms are pleasant. My only disappointment was that the restaurant only worked for breakfast, which was included. It would've been nice to have it open during the day. Sofia is a beautiful city full with historic sites from the First and Second Bulgarian Empires and the hotel is close to many such sites as well. Overall enjoyed my stay.

Affordable decent hotel
Very affordable hotel, good room size and very clean. The reception staff is excellent, very helpful, good English, they let me keep the luggage after check out time. The room is a bit noisy as it is on the main road. The bed very comfortable. Many TV channels but all synchronized in Bulgarian. Wi-fi is reasonable although it does drop and you need to change on every floor. Breakfast OK, hot food poor. Young girl first day was in a bad temper when I asked her where is the hot water, she showed it but with attitude and then she kept banging the crockery when clearing it. There is bus connection to town in front of the hotel.

The Brod hotel, Sofia.
Warm welcome at reception. Room was very clean and tidy and comfortable. No outside noise resulting in a good nights sleep. Checkout next morning was quick and taxi they arranged for us arrived within three minutes. Included breakfast was basic but plentiful. Have used this hotel before and would have no hesitation to use again in the future.

We were looking forward to staying at the Brod for the last day of our holiday but were disappointed with pretty much everything to be honest. On arrival, there were very loud noises of drilling and banging as all of the downstairs was being renovated. One of the lifts was out of order during this time too. The restaurant was closed for the evening - one of the key reasons why we chose this hotel was the fact that it had a restaurant so we didn't have to go out and about with two young children. In the bedroom, we had to set up the sofa beds for the children and were only given sheets for one of the beds. The main bed only had sheets on which were actually duvet covers. No tea and coffee making facilities. Generally very unhappy and wouldn't recommend, at least not for the moment until the works are all finished off!

Great experience! Located near a variety of international Embassies. Hotel would receive A better rating but current under construction and restaurant closed early this day. Safety was my main concern but not a problem cameras and security every where.

Towards five in the evening we arrived and the rooms were not very organized. We had to wait until the rearranging Although there was no one needed to evacuate them at this time. The hotel lobby and corridors smell of cigarettes. The neighborhood where the hotel is located in Central, and unpleasant. There is parking and is convenient. The hotel was a disappointment due to the relatively high ranking of travelers.

We really enjoyed the stay. The rooms are clean, the breakfast is very good and the service is good. For the price it is very recommandable. Only two things that were not satisfying: the hotel restaurant is closed on sundays and the hotel forgot about the airport transfer that we had arranged with an employee some days before our stay, so we stood waiting at the airport but nobody came - no excuse for that from the hotel....

The restraunt is nothing special but the breakfast was good. Great coffee. I was not expecting much for the price but we had a comfortable place to sleep. Taxis are cheap so the location is not inconvenient. The staff at the front desk was very helpful, calling for taxis everyday.

Home of trout and romance
Wonderful hotel! Staff exceptionally friendly both in the restaurant and at reception where they were happy to give directions and order taxis for us. The trout was one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten. There was a bus stop right by the hotel where you could catch a bus into the centre of town (about a twenty minute journey costing 1 lev). The hotel is a seven minute walk from the exciting student town where there are many bars and restaurants. We would happily return!

The Brod was perfect for travellers
Conveniently located, the Brod Hotel was a nice rest stop before we journeyed on to Vladivostok. We rested and made our flight the next day with no worries.

Don't be put off by Hotel Brod not being in town centre, it is on a bus route and taxis are cheap. The hotel itself is comfortable and clean but it is the staff who really make the stay enjoyable. I asked where the nearest shop was as I had forgotten toothpaste and the Receptionist gave me a small tube from the hotel. When I checked out at 4.30am, I was offered coffee while waiting for the taxi and when I left I was given a "breakfast bag" to take with me as I was too early for breakfast. To me those are the things that make a hotel special rather than unnecessary luxuries.

I have just returned from a 3 night stay at Brod Hotel with my husband and young son, where we learned the true meaning of hospitality. Having unfortunately twisted my ankle while sightseeing, I cannot praise the hotel staff highly enough for their kindness. They did all they could to help us out in a difficult situation - providing ice for my ankle, looking after my son, driving us to and from the hospital and staying with me to act as interpreter. We wouldn't have managed without them and we are very grateful. As for the hotel itself, we had a lovely big room which was well equipped with a separate seating area, TV and desk, and more than enough room for the three of us. Everything was newly decorated, modern and very clean. No tea/coffee making facilities but a well stocked and cheap minibar. The buffet breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold food and the coffee was good. No evening restaurant as it was a quiet time but the staff ordered take away food for us which we ate out on the terrace or in our room. The hotel is about 10-15 mins drive from the airport and about the same distance from the city centre – easy to find being on the main road - and we preferred being in a quieter area, with a good view of the mountains from our window.

The location is a little out of the way, but for Sofia is in a nice area on a main road not too far from the airport. Very good value for money - especially if you want to accomodate children as well. Nice spacious rooms and sofa beds for extra guests. Breakfast is included - nothing much, but fills the gap.

We choose this hotel for its location, which was convenient for the airport (approx 10km). Don't stay here if you want to be close to the city centre. It was clean and the staff were very friendly & could speak good English. It cost 10 lev to the airport. The hotel restaurant was closed for dinner during our stay (14-8-09) due to the hotel being quiet. However there are a few restaurants nearby which is classed as the "student sector"(about 10 min walk). We had a nice meal at the Evergreen restaurant. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the hotel, there was a choice of cooked and/or continental, with cereals, fruit juices, fruit, cold meats & various cheeses. I would recommend this hotel.

Good value for a capital city
We were looking for a hotel in Sofia to round off our tour of Bulgaria before returning home but were unhappy at the prospect of having to pay capital city prices for a centrally located hotel. The Brod Hotel is a short distance from the centre but is adequately served by a regular bus service so is a much better option with only a minor inconvenience.

Was about 8 lev to airport and we chose it due to location to airport. Was disappointed that hotel would not give us airport transfer as said provided upon booking! It was a Sat and apparently due to less staff they don't always do Sat transfers but this should have been noted on website. Room was older style, small, a bit of street noise but clean and fine for short stay. Staff where friendly and helpful. Not much near hotel except a student town within walking distance with some eating places. Staff did recommend cheap and honest taxi company to airport. They did provide curtesy van to drive us to internet cafe to check into our flight as no computer available at hotel to use.
