Good value. The Lion is clean and well-kept. Location was good for us because we're walkers. Only fifteen minute walk to center of city. A bit noisy because of traffic but traffic subsides after about eight at night. Convenient restaurant and bar. Breakfast was adequate. Yeah, a good value.

good place for transport linksPosted Sep 22, 2012 on Hotels.com
Have stayed here many times, this time I was pleased to see that more attention had been given to ensuring that everything worked and any slight decor faults had been put right. The hotel was immaculately clean throughout, the bedding was good quality, the towels good quality and complimentary breakfast very good too. The lady member of staff was very good indeed, friendly and very good English, the male members not so forthcoming e.g you had to say hello or good day to them not them to you, small thing but makes you feel more welcome. The Lion is good value for money and its position in terms of transport is hard to beat, it is so close to the railway and bus station, and now its on a metro stop, there are loads of buses and taxis so very good. There are a number of good eating places my favourite is the Kashtite an authentic Bulgarian restaurant, service excellent, food excellent and they have a live three piece Bulgarian band every night and they set the scene so nicely. So well the Lion again, I always recommend this to all my friends and their friends when travelling to Sofia, and bookings have been made with the hotel as a result.

Hotel Lion Sofia - Well PricedPosted Jul 23, 2011 on Hotels.com
Compared to other Hotels in Sofia and Europe you pay a lot for very little, at Hotel Lion Sofia for the price I got a huge room that was in immaculate condition and the bathroom was impecable, but with any hotel hidden 9% hotel fee was there upon checkout

Photo was deceptive !Posted May 17, 2011
This hotel did not live up to my expectations considering the tarrif. It is within walking distance of the City centre but the adjacent area is just one big building site. They are building so you have the noise of drilling, digging etc literally outside the door ! At night to add to your pleasure there is an exotic assortment of prostitutes plying their trade outside and inviting you to sample their goods. The staff were polite but not particularly friendly. The hotel room was reasonably clean except for stains around the edges of the carpet in the room. The single room had 2 single beds with clean bedding but the pillows were very cheap spongey ones and not comfortable. Breakfast was served in the coffee / cake restaurant next door. The cakes were great but unfortunately the breakfast was very average with a strange mix of tastes...spicey bacon and cucumber on the same plate ? The staff in the restaurant were just bits of girls with no personality nor idea about customer service . In conclusion , for the price which of course is double what a Bulgarian citizen usually pays , it is not the best value in the town. i am sure there are other better located hotels which will offer you more for your money. Nevertheless, having experience the poverty and oppression that the Bulgarian citizens have to endure i think i am fortunate to be able to return to the comparative freedom and affluence of my life in the UK.

Hotel Lion-Sofia.Posted Mar 24, 2011 on Hotels.com
The Hotel Lion in Sofia was situated very near to the centre of the city. The hotel was kept very clean, and the room was quite comfortable. I found the staff were most helpful, especially on the reception desk. They were the best that I have encountered in many years of travel. I would be pleased to recommend this hotel, and hope to return in the not too distant future.

Friendly HotelPosted Aug 9, 2006
We enjoyed out stay at the Hotel Lion, the rooms were very clean and recently renovated. The staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful too. It's in a good location for shopping and exploring the sights of Sofia. Although, the breakfast was not great, its a choice of 3 options, so don't expect much. Some of the facilities mentioned here aren't actually available in the hotel, like hairdryers, bathrobes...

The worst hotel in the worldPosted Jul 26, 2006
This hotel shows they have high-speed Internet system, however the system was down during my stay; 4 days and the system is only dial up. The other travelar said he could not connect Internet, too. The staff said at next day they would repaire everyday. Moreover at 20th Jul. they did not clean up my room; of course I claimed the staff to clean. So I cancelled the last stay. Anyway I recommend you to delete this hotel from your list.

This was a great deal for the price. The bathroom was renovated, and the room looked freshly painted. Nice people in the restaurant.
