Disappointed - failed to live up to expectations

Posted Apr 25, 2010
Good points - staff helpful and individual apartments are of a good size and condition - there was a leak in the bathroom but this was rectified. Bad points - We visited in mid April. We were the only tourists there apart from the odd local. Most apartments were empty and uncompleted. For dinner we sat in a freezing cold restaurant on our own to be presented with a meal cooked for us only which was fairly basic. The swimming pool area was in a dreadful state and empty so we could not see if they could ever afford to put this right bearing in mind the lack of income from guests. The path to the beach was uncleared and the beach was full of rubbish. It all felt unkept and deserted. The area outside the hotel is like a building site. We had a car and it took a good hour to drive to the tourist sights in Tunis. Alternatively it is a taxi drive to the local station (£5 each way) and a 45/50 min train journey. We would not recommend parking near the station having nearly had our car towed away in a nearby town. We do prefer to stay in smaller independent hotels, but in comparison when we had to find somewhere near the airport due to the volcano ash, we sorted out half board at a 5 star hotel near to the sights with indoor and outdoor well maintained pools for a similar price. The difference was extreme and highlighted our disappointment in these apartments.

This hotel although is located about 20 Km from Tunis is very easy to reach and is perfect for a family with children or for a romantic break for couples. Hotel was really clean, staff really helpful and kind. Food excellent!

A really great place to stay

Don't be put off by the fact that this hotel is not central. In fact it's what makes it a really great place to stay. The staff will help you sort out visits to any of the local tourist attractions, but the real beauty of this place is that it has it's own private beach, which is really clean, beautiful and private. You get to meet the local Tunisian people and they really are friendly and welcoming. I loved every thing about this place and would recommend it to anyone
