We couldn't have found any where better to stay the farm gave a wonderful setting, the room was large, comfortable and clean. The owners were really friendly and helpful and recommended an amazing our for us to eat at. Where the food was great. Breakfast was first class and we will definitely be back for another visit

Disappointed

Posted Jun 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
This hotel (B & B) was a little primative and dated and did not meet our expectations. It was shown on your website as 4 stars out of 5 which we felt was misleading. In our opinion it should have been rated lower. It would be better described as a remote/country farmhouse. The owners were personable and our breakfast was OK.

Fabulous service and views

Great friendly service with personal touches and helpful local advice. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast and self service cereals, juice and fruit. Thought the location was fantastic, after getting used to the single track roads, and we loved watching the wild birds feeding in the garden before breakfast. Just a short distance from the main road and therefore easy to get out and about.

Traditional farm-house B&B

A traditional farm-house B&B. Rural location, but no longer a working farm. A wonderful personal friendly service from the owners, and a very tasty breakfast.Great pub food available in the village.

Nice, but perhaps not for younger couples

Pros: Friendly, personal experience
Location: Quiet. A way from anything
Crapnell farm is a very friendly and a lovely place to stay. It's a personal, 'human' experience: the owners are friendly and helpful, but no one was there when we arrived so we couldn't check in for an hour upon arrival, they once forgot the mushrooms for breakfast, and forgot our tea tray on one of the nights. This is what you get with a more human experience: I'm not saying it's bad, but it's worth knowing. I would suggest this is not the place for younger couples; we could hear other guests and the owners quite clearly, which suggests they could hear us quite clearly also. This felt slightly restrictive. It is also some walking distance (two miles to the nearest pub) from anything, which is good or bad depending on what you're after. The room is nice, it's extremely quiet around the area which I thought was great. It's easy enough to find, and the nearest pub (the George in Croscombe) is a cracker. In conclusion, it's about what you're after. It's a good little place and I would recommend it - just not to my friends, who are younger and might fancy a bit more in the way of privacy.
