Pros: Friendliness of staff, location, food, the room.
Location: Superb
What a fantastic B&B, with lovely welcoming staff and owners. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, superb location, amazing food, would highly recommend this B&B to anyone, and most definitely look to staying there again. A definite if you want to have a homely stay, in a quiet and comfortable setting, in an idyllic place. Made our stay in Somerset amazing.

The Royal Oak of Luxborough

Posted Sep 18, 2011 on Hotels.com
Whilst I do not want to write anything negative about our stay at this hotel, I have to give an honest report as the hotel was a mixture of good and not so good - e.g. the bar area may be some people's idea of a country pub bar but it was small, cramped and very uncomfortable to sit in. We had a long drive to this hotel and wanted to relax, which we could not do in the bar. However, the dining area was lovely when we went for dinner and so we felt relaxed there. The food was good and well cooked and service was good - both for dinner and breakfast. But then the bedroom was small with inconvenient aspects e.g. the light switch for the bathroom being quite a way behind a wardrobe which was difficult to reach and the bathroom was cramped without any areas to put toilet bags etc. However the staff were pleasant and gave good service. Some may regard this hotel as a quirky, country hotel, which it is but it really requires some improvement to be regarded as a good, quirky hotel.. So overall a mixed experience.

Lovely setting friendly servicw

But leaves something to be desired for the room. The room we stayed at had a bed with a rather thin mattress and gave us back ache. Breakfast was ok, not special. Otherwise it was great! Particularly the dinner at the pub was delicious and the staff most helpful.

What an extremely well run, warm welcoming and friendly inn. We loved every minute of our stay. The service was great, the food was delicious, the staff were very professional and the locals were very friendly too. We would highly recommend the Royal Oak to our friends and family.
