“A truly unique and pleasant experience”
We were not sure what to expect when we booked three nights at the Metro Hotel and Cafe. Their literature said it was like a bed and breakfast but not run like one. What you will find is a small hotel built in the late 1800s and meticulously restored. Comfortable, beautifully furnished rooms and baths with antique appointments like ball and claw tubs but with flat screen TVs. The staff is pleasant and always reachable but inconspicuous, Each morning they put out fresh coffee and coffee cakes but you seldom see them around. The grounds are inviting as is the common rooms, Walking distance to downtown Petaluma with great restaurants, shops and movies. Very quiet and restful place.
“Love!”
I loved this very unique hotel. I love the homey feeling instead of the stiff feeling you get while staying at a generic chain hotel. The owner/manager was very nice and accommodating even though I arrived at 3 in the morning. The hotel was very quiet even though there were hardwood floors and it was an old building with thin walls. I really enjoyed the self serve setup because I like being left alone! If you want someone to wait on you hand and foot and need a lot of attention don't stay here but if you want your peace and quiet in a homey setting this is the place for you. The location was also great and close to restaurants and coffee and Sonoma for wine tasting. It has great freeway access without being right on it.
“little European boutique hotel, locally”
The Metro Hotel in Petaluma is a little European flavored boutique hotel. My room was cheerful. welcoming and spotless. I enjoyed the sense of humor and color palette, red w/lavender. of my room, and the bed was so comfortable, that I went back to sleep. The young man at reception was friendly and helpful. I shall return.
“Charming.”
This is the 3rd time we have stayed here. Rooms are charming and unique. Very centrally located and not right downtown. Also quiet. No landline phones which was a inconvenience because we do not have a cell phone.
“funky, quirky, eccentric - great!”
This is not your average chain style hotel. For a start it seems to have once been a house so the rooms are all different sizes and shapes. Secondly, they are decked out in an eccentric style which reeks of 'frenchness" - bold color schemes and quirky touches ( a duck desk lamp in every room) shake you out of that tourist torpor that comes with too much sameness, Its invigorating enough that you forgive the empty nest effect of the dining room that no-one seems to use. I was quite happy with the bed, linen and bathroom supplies. Coffee, as in most places in this country, was underwhelming, but just down the road is a great cafe that knows not only what good coffee is but how to make it as well. I'd go back again any time.
“Quirky and Fun”
We had a regular room in the main house but also enjoyed the 'Airstream' option. Very comfy. We'll be back.
“Feels like you are in a typical quaint Paris hotel”
We were looking to stay for a couple of days south of Napa and this was convenient for our departure to southern California. The accommodations were very comfortable and met all our needs - parking, comfortable bed, wifi, continental breakfast, easy walking distance to several good restaurants, 45 minute pleasant drive to Napa wineries. The price was much less than comparable lodging in the Napa valley.
“Good price”
Great hotel for the price. Can walk to quaint downtown Petaluma. Only downside is the female owner (?) is not very friendly. When we arrived we felt like we were getting in the way and she had more important things to do.
“Great Unique Place”
AFter staying at the standard hotels in the area, this was a nice treat. The decor was so different. The bed was the most comfortable I"ve slept in for a hotel. Breakfast was a little sparse, but there are plenty of great restaurants close by. The price was very inexpensive compared to other hotels in the area. We will definaely stay here anytime we are in the area. The only down side was no refunds if you have to cancel.
“Great Boutique Hotel”
The Metro is located in the old Theater District in Petaluma and within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and theaters. It was a great choice!
