This hotels needs an upgrade. Stayed in a premium room, but did not feel premium at all. Tired inventory. Extremely cold, not possible to turn on heating in the bathroom, thermostat was locked to 5 degrees celcius. Tv with no streaming or casting possibilites. Slightly broken furniture and overall a feeling of staying in a room ten overdue for a rehabilitation. Ice cube machine was broken on all 4 floors i checked. The common areas were also cold. Posters claiming eco-friendliness was the reason for this were all over. Enviromental awareness is great but it reduced the comfort a lot. The staff was really friendly - location is amazing and the breakfast had a huge selection av good food. The price gave higher expectations. There is no feeling of luxury here. If you seek that, maybe splurge a little more sn stay at Britannia. If you just want a nice room and good location, Royal Garden is close by with more modern rooms and a cheaper price. Will not stay here again

One Breakfast to rule them all
Hotel is pretty nice, but not the very best in terms of quality. That being said for the price it is a great choice and quality is very good. Breakfast is the best I have had in any hotel in Norway, ever.. So that is a huge plus that leaves me on a very high review score.

The breakfast was beyond amazing but the hotel room/hallways were worn and dated. Also, we were so disappointed in the restaurant for dinner! The menu was simple and boring.

Of all the Scandic hotels properties in Norway, this is one of the best. The hotel's location on the River Nidelven, yet accessible by foot to the central part of the city, is outstanding. The breakfast room serves a banquet of food.

Generally good hotel with excellent breakfast, but the cleaniness can be better. It is also expected that a hotel of this standard should have a working fridge/minibar in the room. We got a room at the far end, towards the highway and the railway. Not possible to adjust temp in room and with an open window the noise was just too much.

Not quite up to scratch
We were unfortunately quite disappointed with the Scandic Nidelven. Considering a price in the upper range for a hotel of its kind even in Norway, we were slightly irritated to have to switch rooms twice, because both the first and the second room we got had bathrooms that had visibly not been properly cleaned, and neither seemed to have been dusted in a rather long time. Even the third room had some cleanliness issues, and we ended up asking for additional cleaning but finding it ok enough for us to eventually stay there (and at that point, not liking our chances in the event of switching once more). I don't think we're fussy, and it's certainly not something that's happened to us often when traveling. The receptionist was very friendly about it all and did what she could, plus gave us a voucher for the bar the 2nd time we had to go and complain. Still, we'd have obviously preferred a clean room. Also, the hallways had a somewhat run-down, stains-on-the-carpet appearance, and the hotel, including the breakfast buffet, was very busy and often crowded, making their hygiene/anti-Covid measures seem pretty perfunctory. Overall, a disappointing experience and certainly not worth the money.

Unfortunately Scandic Nidelven does not provide parking on the premises. Rooms are either toward the river (recommended) or towards a busy street. Sound insulation could have been better. We stayed during the height of the summer in the Covid-19 season when all Norwegians were advised to holiday at home. So the breakfast room was packed and guests had problems observing the social distance required. The hotel is within walking distance of whatever there is to see in the town.

Luchttoevoer is niet regelbaar en gaat 's nachts in eco stand. Daardoor benauwd. Te weinig verlichting, geen scheerspiegel, geen koelkastje. Veel te duur voor wat ze bieden. Het enige goede is het ontbijt.
