"Lovely Hotel and Staff, Beautiful setting."
This secluded resort really blew us both away; hidden in a cove down from Vico Equence gave it a very relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by beautiful cliffs and sea overlooking Mount Vesuvius. The hotel itself was lovely, well decorated with a mix of old and new style. The facilities were great and staff very welcoming who were happy to fulfil every request. The hotel private beach was lovely, mainly pebble but the sea was so close you weren’t walking in it for very long. There were mainly Italian guests at the resort which in my view is a good sign. The hotel restaurant although expensive was exquisite, the chef was amazing. The hotel is a short (though uphill walk) to Vico Equence, but the hotel offers a shuttle whenever you need it which will take you into town or the train station. It’s the perfect base to explore the surrounding areas, like Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi, as well as the excavation areas of Pompeii and Herculaneum (the latter is the better site in our opinion) The public transport system here is amazing and very cheap, catch the SITA bus if you intend to explore the Amalfi coast it was 6 euros each for the day and you catch this in Sorrento just outside of Sorrento train station. I would recommend this resort to anyone; we had the most amazing time here in this beautiful hotel and hope to return one day in the future.

"Hotel in excellent location, good value for money."
Staff helpful and fun. Food very good, standard room with sea view has a very useful balcony. The cove has several restaurants on stilts, so you get a fabulous view of the ocean and do not need to travel to eat out. The super rich pull their yachts into the bay to eat, so a great place to people watch. We particularly liked the pizzeria and bar next to this. We found it a good location to explore the region and have sometime on the beach. We have no hesitation in recommending it to others but it would help if visitors go with some basic Italian phrases. Definitely a place to return to, which is high praise, as the world is a big place. We could not believe we got that lucky, booking a holiday on the internet can feel risky but La Certosa exceeded our expectations. We had a great holiday, thanks.

"A great choice for beach lovers"
The hotel is perfect for folks who want the beach more than anything else. It does have a private beach just down the steps from the hotel's deck. The beach is well taken care of - on the last day we saw a small bulldozer leveling the pebbles. That's right - pebbles. You won't find good sand anywhere in Sorrento. The hotel is way off the main drag, but it has a free-during-the-day, 1 euro at night shuttle that goes back and forth every hour and takes you right to downtown Sorrento. Note that there's a no-shuttle window between 6:30 and 10 pm to get back to the hotel. The shuttle was always on time, sometimes early, and it makes you appreciate and admire Italian driving. :) The shuttle rides takes ~15 minutes. Do contact the hotel prior to your arrival if you are arriving by train and arrange for the shuttle pickup. Most of the guests in the hotel were older folks - in fact, other than me and my wife and another young married couple, everybody else was in the 50s-60s-... You won't find any nightlife activities at the hotel or in the surrounding area. They had live music every night - typical Italian repertoire. So if action is what you are after, stay in Sorrento (this hotel is technically speaking is located in Meta). Not that there's much action at night anyway - we saw ads for a couple of clubs, but didn't get a sense that there was much to do after the dinner. So, to summarize, if you want the beach in Sorrento, this hotel is a great choice.

"Fabulous Hotel"
Just returned from a fabulous week in Sorrento staying at the beautiful Grand Hotel Riviera. We wanted an hotel with a view and were not disappointed. Our room was a standard, it was beautifully decorated and very comfortable, The staff were very helpful and friendly and the service in the bar and restaurant were excellent. The breakfast buffet was substantial with lots of choice and made all the more special by the view from the breakfast terrace. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the main square of Sorrento. We loved it and would definitely return.

""Industrial Panoramic""
Couldn't find the place, bad signage and unhelpful locals. On arrival at 1030pm we were given a bottle of opened still water and charged for it. We woke to a view of the ship yard. No chairs in the room or balcony. The shower did not work, after 2 attempts to repair it, I did it my self. Breakfast was a cheap yougart, a floppy coisant, processed meat and cheese, inedible cereal, nice coffee, horrible milk and jams. No where to eat well in town. No where to walk. We felt thouroughly let down.

"Camping cabins close to the beach"
Important things you need to know before booking. This is a camp ground. We arranged for their shuttle to pick us up from Naples train station. Try and contact the camp ground to arrange for this. There was a cost to take their shuttle. I stayed in a cabin #26 that sleeps 6. You need to bring or buy toilet paper, and bug spray. If you are going to use the kitchen bring a scrub sponge and dish soap. I was in #26 which had air-conditioning, but we had to pay an extra 10 euros a day to use it. It worked GREAT! It has a special remote. Our TV never worked properly even after they fixed it once. Although it wasn't a big deal to us since we didn't speak Italian. There are a lot of steps and walking on this site. There is a great store on site with almost everything you would need except no converter plugs. We took an excursion to the Amalfi coast which was great but a long boat ride to get there. They have an excursion to Capri also which we passed on. Both excursions can be bought right there at the camp ground...cash only. The staff spoke English and were friendly. Some not so much English. As long as you are ok with 1-2 star accommodations you will be ok.

"Nice hotel in a quiet beautiful setting."
My daughter was to be married in Sorrento and we wanted a hotel close by. Hotel Mary was a fantastic choice with its friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. We were able to relax by the pool and visit several of the local cafes around the piazza which was only a short walk away.
