My wife's 50th Birthday in Sorrento!Posted Apr 13, 2014
Pros: The friendly efficiency of the staff, enabling us to relax and enjoy our holiday!
Cons: Sometimes the housekeepers forgot one or two things like replenishing toiletries, or turning down the bed at night but our room was cleaned every day!
Location: See my earlier comments above, and we think Capri may be a little overrated although still worth a trip to see the Blue Grotto!
We chose Sorrento because we wanted somewhere in Italy that was most likely to be warm in early April! We both love Italy and hadn't been south of Rome before. Sorrento seemed to tick all of the boxes. We chose the Continental on the basis of online reviews and checking their website. We arranged with the hotel to provide a driver to collect us from Naples airport (expensive but worth it after a 3am start) when we arrived at the hotel our room was ready and the reception and porters were excellent, efficient and friendly. This continued for the rest of our week there with every query handled with polite and genuine friendliness Sorrento is lovely and we spent time just ambling, eating and drinking there! Trips to Pompeii by train and Capri by boat are well worth it. Overall, a really relaxing time and we can't wait to return to explore more of the Amalfi coast and surroundings!

A fantastic hotel.Posted Nov 4, 2013
Pros: All the staff were really friendly and made us feel so welcome.
Cons: No, it was great!
Location: Trips to Pompeii, Herculaneum, island of Capri. In Sorrento itself there were so many good restaurants that were spoilt for choice.
We have just returned from Sorrento and what an amazing holiday! The weather was perfect- 23 degrees everyday ( at the end of October) and the hotel was in a perfect location with sea views and within a few minutes walk of restaurants and shops. The staff were all extremely helpful and eager to make our holiday as happy as possible. Our rooms were beautifully clean and our sea view balcony was fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be coming back again (hopefully very soon!). Sorrento itself is a beautiful town and it is ideally positioned for days out to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Capri.

very good experiencePosted Nov 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. Thelocation couldn't have been better It is close to everything but out of the hustle and bustle of the center. The view from our room was amazing. A view of the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The restaurant was quiet but the food was excellent. The breakfast buffet couldn't have had more choices and the Maitre D was a sweet heart. We hope we can return some day.

Beautiful HotelPosted Nov 1, 2013
Pros: The beauty and serenity of the hotel and the area around it. We had the most wonderful breakfast, which was include in the price. Staff wonderful!
Location: We walked everywhere from our hotel. ExploreI We walked to the right side of the hotel, down narrow road and found way down to harbor!! Beautiful!
My daughter and I stayed at the Continental for four nights. I had realized from other reviewers that it should be a nice hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised how wonderful it was. We were told when we got there that they had updated our room for free and we were so happy with our room. It had balcony with a view of the mountains of Sorrento on the left and the magnificent Mediterranean sea in front of us. We did stay here late-middle of October so the tourist season was winding down for the year. Our room was great - lots of room. The bed was called a 'double' bed but it was two wide singles put together, so lots of room. Tile floors throughout, air conditioning, big bathroom. We had gone out the first night and when we came back our bed had been turned down, small thin mats by the bedside (take it so that your feet didn't get cold on the tile), new fresh towels, and a piece of chocolate! The pool are is beautiful. Everyone was most welcoming, and they helped us get some tours at the last moment. Went on a half day trip to Pompeii (think that was a perfect amount of time, not whole day), and also a day trip to Capri. Sorrento is just fun to explore!

NIce view, but hotel is not as picturedPosted Oct 28, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel photo was misleading, the hotel is in back, not right on the water. The bed was hard with a crater on each side.

Best you will find for the pricePosted Oct 22, 2013
Pros: The friendliness of the staff.
Cons: The internet service for handheld devises is very poor but I am finding that all over Italy.
Location: We visited the Blue Water ristaurante in Sorrento a short walk from our hotel. the Prices, the food and the service were so good we visited 3 times,
This is what a hotel should be. A 4 star hotel with 5 star service. The staff could not do enough for you. My friends, my wife and I had a fantastic stay, clean rooms, clean hotel, great water views, excellent breakfast although the coffee was Italian strong.

Well located hotelPosted Oct 18, 2013
Pros: Convenience and friendliness of staff.
Cons: The availability of an iron, in-room tea / coffee making facilities and the quality of the gymnasium.
Location: Very good location (our room had a balcony that looked right across the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius), with ready access to the shops and restaurants.
This is a very well located hotel, convenient for the old town area of Sorrento, the two marinas and public transport for trips to the surrounding areas. The rooms were comfortable and clean and staff extremely friendly and professional. The hotel do not allow guests to use their own hairdryers, there are no tea / coffee making facilities in the rooms and no irons available - you have to pay the hotel staff to iron any creased clothes. The gym was not particularly well equipped and some of the equipment either did not work or was not particularly good quality.

Perfect locationPosted Oct 13, 2013
This is the perfect example of how a hotel should be. We felt pampered from beginning to end. Only hiccup was that it poured with rain. I,m sure Franco at reception can organise that better for next time !!! :)

A great Hotel and StaffPosted Oct 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed 5 nights at the Continental and were very pleased with our stay. Our rooms were clean and very adequate. The mattresses were a little hard for us, but some folks like a firm mattress. We found the staff, concierge, and restaurant personnel very helpful. All of our questions and requests were answered courteously and friendly. The location was perfect. Close to the center of town and within walking distance to the port, shops, restaurants, and museums. We couldn't have chose a better location. The breakfast buffet was amazing, probably the best we've experienced in Europe. Would definitely recommend the Continental and will stay again when in Sorrento.
