Stunning locationPosted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: Location and proximity to transport networks and main tourist areas within Sorrento
Cons: Upgrade some furnishings in seating area off reception
Location: Excellent location enabling easy access to Sorrento and surrounding areas
Amazing views from front facing rooms and terrace areas. Close proximity to bus and train networks made visits to surrounding areas easy to undertake yourself. Concierge staff very helpful and provided information requested to make stay more enjoyable. Breakfast on the terrace was a highlight of the 4 day stay with serving staff attentive to customer needs. Would recommend.

Character hotel in a perfect locationPosted Aug 15, 2014
Everything was fantastic apart from two things...the swimming pool and it's closing time. You are required to wear a hair cap in the pool which is annoying and I found that hardly anyone was actually using the pool probably because of this reason. They say it's hygiene but I have stayed in many hotels ranging from 3 to 5 star and never came across this requirement. For this reason we found we couldn't be bothered with the pool and went straight to the beach. It's closing time is at 7pm along with their private beach but we also found this way too early being daylight saving time it's really 6pm and it is still hot. By the time you come back from day tours to Capri, Positano etc it would be nice to have a swim or sit on the sun decks as it doesn't go dark til after 9pm.

Very good hotel. Shame about road noise.Posted Aug 13, 2014
Overall a good hotel. Good location. Excellent facilities and service. Good size room with large bathroom although the room sadly had a lot of road noise as it was on the front of the hotel. Sea-view rooms would be quieter I feel. Maybe some double glazing is required on front aspect rooms to quieten the noise issue? Also the aircon unit was very loud. Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was good with a beautiful view of mount Vesuvius and the bay. Free wifi a bonus. Good pool and private pier facilities. Well worth a stay.

Relax in stylePosted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: The rooms and the views. Our room was so large we couldn't see our daughter from our bed!
Cons: Shower cubicle was very small and leaked onto the floor.
Location: Very close to the heart of Sorrento, plenty of places to eat.
What a wonderful week at the Europa Grand Hotel. We booked a suite, looking across the bay to Versuvius, as we had read previous comments. We couldn't believe how lovely the room was. The views from the hotel room and the 3 balconies were fantastic. We enjoyed watching the boats coming and going from the marina below. We felt so special when we were greeted by a member of staff at the sun deck, who then gave us a choice of sun beds, with a towel. No rushing to save your sun bed for the day early in the morning. The hotel is in a perfect position, close to the vibrant piazza Tasso area, with numerous bars, shops and restaurants to visit within a few minutes. Plus the train station was close by enabling trips to Pompeii and Naples. We definitely intend to stay again

Perfect location, wonderful viewsPosted Jul 19, 2014
Hotel is in a perfect location, just a few minutes walk to the centre of Sorrento and to the train and bus station if you are planning excursions. Views from the terrace and pool area are superb. The pontoon is a great and unique add on. Downsides: some of the staff (pool and bar) are rather surly and unwelcoming. Breakfast was a big disappointment too: awful coffee, very limited choice and not enough fresh fruit. A shame given the otherwise very high standard of the hotel. That said, a great choice both for a relaxing break or if you want to use it as a base to explore the delights of the Naples and Amalfi coast area.

A marble palace with absolutely wonderful views.Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: Palatial elegance, wonderful views, excellent staff and attentive service.
Cons: The restaurant food in the evening was disappointing the one time we used it. TV was small and tired, paint and fittings were a little worn.
Location: Close to Sorrento Centre with bars, restaurants and shopping; close to station for Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples (avoid!!). Book Amalfi cruise!
We've never experienced a short holiday before that hit such highs and lows, but none of the lows were attributable to the hotel. We booked a "junior suite" because that was all that was available, but it was worth every penny, with marble floors, 3 balconies (2 with beautiful views across the Bay of Naples, including Vesuvius), ample wardrobe space, plenty of places to store luggage - if we had had any (ours was being jemmied open and retained for 3 days by Brussels customs) and a large and well-appointed bathroom. The staff were so helpful and friendly, even though we constantly badgered them to find out what was happening with our luggage and to sort out our excursions, etc.. The breakfasts (especially when served on the beautiful terrace) had extensive menus, both hot and cold, the rooms were kept clean with regular towel changes and the bed turned down every evening and we soon developed a habit of coffee and whisky on the terrace (another part) before bed, looking at the views and watching the antics of the odd lizard and the bats swooping around. While not a swimmer myself, the 200 foot trip in the lift down to the pool, bar and sunloungers at near sea-level was spectacular enough by itself and the gentle 10 min. walk into Sorrento centre and all the shops and bars was pleasant.

Loved the beach club!Posted Jun 18, 2014
The beach club is at sea level and consists of a swimming pool (be aware you are made to wear a swimming hat) and sun deck with steps into the sea with a tiny beach area. We stayed in a city view room, which was lovely and spacious however very noisy from road traffic (Italians beep their horns a lot). I would defo choose a sea view room next time.

Amazing sea view propertyPosted Jun 17, 2014
We booked a standard room on Expedia and were pleasantly surprised that the front desk gave us a spectacular junior suite with French doors and 2 balconies looking out onto the Bay of Naples. The next morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast on the expansive terrace overlooking the sea. One of the most amazing hotel experiences ever ...
