“Great Hotel, Great Price compared to USA stantdards”
Coming from USA (Louisiana) when we travel, we expect luxury at a decent price. Reading nightmare stories of European hotel stays...we were scared... BUT wtih Hotel Aminta... there's nothing to worry about. Hotel has free shuttle bus that runs pretty reguarly to and from hotel and location in downtown sorrento. Easy city/town to get around in on foot. Safe area. Once at train station in Sorrento, take bus or taxi to hotel. Taxi is expensive, 20 or so Euro. Bus 1 to 5 Euro... Just make sure the bus driver knows the hotel you are staying at or he will pass it up.(and he won't go back). Hotel clean, staff friendly, spoke fair+ english to help with planning activities and travel in and around Sorrento. Great Hotel for a decent price. Restaurante in hotel, good food but pricey. Room with a view worth little extra. Great views of the sea. We stayed in the main building. Only downside is need of shuttle bus to and from downtown Sorrento, but for the savings per night and quality overall... GREAT HOTEL .
“Aminta - Wonderful Hotel: Beautiful Location & Great Staff”
The staff at the Aminta is great. The Aminta set up for us a pick-up car at the airport as well as one for our departure. The Aminta has a very reliable shuttle to and from town. We were given directions to all the reataurants and must-see places of Sorrento. The Aminta also arranged pickups to and from two very excellent restaurants. They gave us advice on what days it would be best to tour different areas of the Sorrentine peninsula. They also have tours that pick up and drop off at the hotel. We did a one day tour to Rome and a tour along the Amalfi Coast that were both great. For example, they said if it was a bright day, to go and experience the Amalfi Coast. If it was overcast, to see Pompeii. It was our first time there, so this advice was invaluable. They had all the train and bus schedules we needed to explore places outside of Sorrento. There is also a walk-way path to town from the Aminta. It's a great walk. Very healthy. Wonderful views of the bay and Mount Vesuvius. The dining room staff was fantastic. They were very friendly to us. They would ask us about our day and the food was EXCELLENT!!! We had 3 amazing dinners there. The maid staff was first-rate and had our room very clean everyday. We had a wonderful romantic view of the Bay of Naples and we could see Sorrento lite up at nite. VERY Beautiful!!!
“A super place to stay”
Having spent 6 days in the hustle and bustle of Rome, Grand Hotel Aminta was the perfect place for a far more relaxing part of our holiday. The location is excellent, just far enough outside Sorrento and the views from the hotel were simply stunning. The wlk down to Sorrento is very quick, but do watch out for scooters. Only attempt to walk back if you are feeling very fit and healthy. The free bus service is excellent, although there is a long gap in the evening, but you can get a public bus for 1 euro. We spent time by the pool and also took day trips to Vesuvius, Pompeii and Capri, all easy to get to via train or boat. Staff, especially on the desk were always polite and very helpful. Great entertainment throughout the week too. We will definitly be returning.
“Excellent”
We stayed for 5 nights in the Annex building, and have had a brilliant holiday. The hotel staff are all really friendly and helpful, we enjoyed cocktails at the bar/pool everyday & night! The waiters even made us something different off the menu. The shuttle bus is great, always on time. We had breakfast every morning, there is lots of choice, they are very quick at bringing out the cooked food, and topping up your coffee! Book your trips through the hotel when you arrive, they are cheaper and also they pick you up and drop you back off at the hotel. The rooms are very clean, nice big bathroom. Definitly recommend it.
“Beautiful Hotel in Sorrento's Hills”
Stayed at the Aminta for three nights after staying in Rome. Took the train to Naples, and had the hotel arrange our tranfers via car service. Hotel was perfectly situated - spent 1 day on Capri, 1 day in Pompeii/Vesuvius, and 1 day kicking around town. We took the Circumvesuviana train to Pompeii and Vesuvius and had no problems - it felt nice to blend in with the locals and get away from the tour groups. Hotel - the room was great. Wonderful balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples. Nice flat screen TV with a variety of channels, and decent sized bathrooms. Wished the pillows were more comfortable. The hotel staff was excellent, and the dining facilities were perfect for breakfast. The hotel is in the hills away from the center of town...however, it posed no problem because we took the path into town each morning which took only 15 minutes. The shuttles to Aminta from town were convenient for afternoon/early evenings, but are inconvenient if you choose to eat dinner in town. I have no problems hesitating recommending this hotel to anyone.
“Can't wait to go back!”
My mum and I had a great time at the hotel, the breakfasts were amazing and the staff went out of their way to help you.
“A Perfect Stay at The Grand Hotel Aminta, Sorrento”
I have recently just come back from a 6 day break in Sorrento. I stayed at The Grand Hotel Aminta which was a fabulous hotel. We were upgraded at check-in from a standard room to a seda view room which was a very pleasant surprise. The room was lovely and spacious and had a balcony with a perfect view. The cleanliness of the room both on arrival and on a daily basis was of a very high standard. The bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and helped us with tourist information, including a pizzeria that they recommended which proved to be fantastic. The hotel itself was always kept very clean. The breakfast was very nice, I did not have any of the cooked options, but the selection of fruit, pastries and cereals etc was verey good. I totally recommend this hotel, definetly more for couples, honeymooners etc rather than for a group of single people up for a lively holiday!
“Excellent Hotel and Location”
We had a fantastic time in Sorrento. The hotel was lovely and although it was a bit out of the town itself it was worth it for the wonderful view over the Bay of Naples. We would recommend this hotel to anyone the staff were very polite and helpful - we will certainly be making a return visit.
“a truly relaxing holiday”
It had been 20 years since we had last visited Sorrento and our return journey was simply wonderful. However, it did not begin too well since we had booked a room in the annexe and after a long and very tiring journey were shown the circuitous route to our room. This involved walking through the hotel....past the swimming pool ..through a gate ..footpath and then a drive that runs beside the back of the hotel. The annexe overlooks an olive grove and is not unpleasant, but at least three or four minuets walk from the main hotel. Our room appeared to have had a problem since bits of the ceiling had fallen onto the table. Our host tut tutted a little and left us to it - but just minutes after he'd gone we received a phone call from reception inviting us to look at another room within the hotel itself. This we did and it was tremendous - spotlessly clean, fantastic big bed and superbly air conditioned. After that we could not find fault with the hotel.Breakfasts were good - we were on a full breakfast deal, others on continental only were less happy.Lunch snacks by the pool were very resonable and dinner was good too - although we ate out a great deal (superb restauants in the town - try Emelias Trattoria in The Grande Marina) We used the courtesy bus a lot and only attempted the walk down town once since we were there during a heat wave! The hotel staff were very helpful and polite and we enjoyed fantastic views over the Bay of Naples. And we won't leave it 20 years to return!
“Very good Hotel”
Really enjoyed 5 day stay in Aminta. Staff were efficient and friendly. Hotel was clean. Views were spectacular. Although hotel was a base for Amalfi sights/ excursions, spent one rest day at the pool and it was very relaxing with a good poolside bar for refreshments and snacks. Need to work around hotel/sorrento complimentary bus shuttle with its infrequent timetable.
