“Excellent Hotel”

We enjoyed our stay at the Cesare Augusto. Very well located, just a few yards to the center . of activities. Its location is ideal to those who travel by train , say to Pompeii and other parts of Sorrento. Very helpful staff. Delicous breakfast.

“great stay”

we went in February which is off season for Sorrento of course, many hotels are actually closed for the winter, this hotel had a few tourists and some bus tour groups some days, neverthe less all the staff was very helpful and friendly. the hotel is very conveniently located close to the train station (Circumvesuviana) and bus stops, just a couple of minutes walk. the hotel condition is impeccable and our room was very large by italian standards, clean and very comfortable, with a balcony, the beds were the most comfortable we had during our whole Italy trip, the room safe is big enough for 2 small laptops or Ipads. the breakfast buffet was very good but the coffee from the coffee machine is not that great as other reviewers have mentioned ( there is a bar on the same street, via degli aranci, opposite the hotel's side, above the train station with a cappucino for 1 euro, Paradise bar is the name, I think, full of local customers) overall we had a wonderful stay at the hotel and think it was a great deal for the price, we loved Sorrento in the winter, we had cold but nice weather, were able to visit Pompei and Amalfi without the usual crowds of tourists. We want to thank the staff of the hotel and hope they read this review. (also we want to mention a good reasonably priced restaurant nearby, on via Marziale: the red lion (il leone rosso) with friendly service).

“Great Hotel!”

This was the best hotel of our trip (4 places) The only one I would consider 4 Star. Very spacious room, balcony, and full size bathroom. (Tub and shower) Great breakfast, full bar, incredible views from the roof, overall just a wonderful place. Also very close to the Sorrento train stop on the Circumvesuvian train line. (Which actually went on a planned strike while we were there.) Just a very short walk to downtown through their gardens.

“Good location”

We found out that they mechanically switch fro heat to cool in mid April. Our first few nights it was warm. We managed by keeping the patio door open. So our only complaint was no cooling in early April while we were there.

“Nice location but not really 4 star quality”

We enjoyed staying at the hotel because the location was very close to one of the main Piazzas in Sorrento. The price was reasonable for the area. The star rating system does not seem the same country-to-country. This hotel was rated 4 stars, but it is not the 4 star equivalent of hotels in the U.S., Germany, England, etc.

“Central location.”

Nice central location in downtown Sorrento. The hotel is rather basic in accommodations. It appears to cater to tour groups. Good breakfast.

“Hotel close to train station”

Beautiful room, but not great service. At the end of one day, tired and ready to relax we found the door to our room wide open. When we complained to the manager we were almost scolded and told to make sure the door was shut. But we left that room with the door locked before it was cleaned, and were shocked to find the door open. They promise free wifi in the room, but doesn't always work. They promise you can make an international call with calling card from the room, but it didn't work and they didn't care. Free use of computer in lobby was useful. The breakfast was just fair.
