Wonderful hotel, great viewsPosted Jul 30, 2015
We had a lovely stay in this hotel at this hotel. The views are incredible & service was top notch. Everything was super clean & the cocktails from Alphonso are definitely worth a mention. I'm undecided whether it's location is a benefit or not. It means you have incredible views & have a bit of peace & quiet away from the bustle of Sorrento but it does add that bit of extra journey time if you want to explore & means you have to plan ahead. Shuttle service was excellent but takes 20 minutes each way. There are maybe 5 restaurants in St Agata, just 5 minutes walk down the road. We were pleased we went for a sea view, since we spent hours on the balcony with that lovely view & I think that is really taking advantage of the views without it being much more expensive. The price of the hotel is much better than those in Sorrento.

Location: 20 minutes from Sorrento by courtesy bus which worked really well.

One of the most gorgeous views in ItalyPosted Jul 15, 2015
Pros: The ocean side view was the best you will ever get.
Cons: The bartender Alphonso needs a serious attitude adjustment as he gives the hotel a very rude feel. All the other staff were wonderful
Location: The location was on a hillside overlooking sorrento and the ocean. They had a free shuttle that took you down to sorrento many times a day.
The hotel was well located above Sorrento with a free shuttle going all day. The rooms were clean and well appointed. We would recommend the ocean view as you could look across the ocean and see Mt. Vesuvio which was very impressive. The breakfast was excellent and for an extra $20 a person you got a wonderful three course meal which was delicious. Where else could you get a three course meal for such little money. The staff with the exception of the bartender Alphonso who was quite rude to the guest were wonderful. Reception was very helpful and always friendly and the the gentlemen in the restaurant were fabulous. The gentleman who served the desserts from his cart was the most sweetest kindest fellow you could want to meet. The pool was small but was never crowded and they had a very nice snack bar there. All in all I would hightly recommend this hotel.

Fabulous Hotel in perfect locationPosted Jun 28, 2015
Pros: Perfect location. Provide towels for pool. Reasonably priced snack food ( pasta pizza etc)
Cons: Can't think of anything
Location: Fabulous location in the mountains. Within walking distance to S.Agata. Great hotel shuttle service and local bus outside hotel.
We have just returned from a fabulous weeks holiday in this hotel. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The free shuttle bus is a valuable extra provided to make your trips into Sorrento easy. The views from the Dining Room and Bar area are breathtaking, you could sit watching the world go by all day and never get bored. Staff are extremely knowledgable and are able to book your trips to Capri ( don't miss it ), Pompeii, Herculaneum and any other excursions you wish to do. We visited Positano by local transport and then sailed back to Sorrento to avoid the steep climb back up to catch the bus ( certainly a trip you must do ) Don't hesitate to book Grand Hotel Due Golfi you will not be disappointed I stayed with my 16 year old son , and we both can't wait to return. Thank you.

Very friendly hotel 8k from SorrentoPosted May 21, 2015
Pros: The location and the staff
Cons: Wi-Fi and Air Con
Location: Rest Mimi in village and also one outside ask for details in hotel it is in the next village and you can get picked up and dropped off at the hotel.
The hotel is in a brilliant setting in a little village where you can walk to shops and restaurants. The hotel runs a shuttle service into Sorrento takes 15 minutes or you can walk through paths in around 40 minutes. Excellent hotel staff and very knowledgeable in regards to places to visit and how to get there. Room was very nice and very clean with lovely towels, however the air con was not working very well so rather warm and the Wi-Fi did not work in our room and very slow in the reception area. Breakfast was good with a choice of tinned fruit, scrambled eggs, breads and cakes etc. Good value for money in a great location.

Gutes Hotel in ungünstiger LagePosted May 6, 2015

Posted May 4, 2015

Good HotelPosted Nov 10, 2014
Pros: Welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Rooms and public areas maintained to a high standard.
Cons: The bathroom needed a refurb.
Location: We used the courtesy bus and train to visit Pompeii well worth it, in fact we went twice. A drive round the Amalfi coast is well worth it.
An enjoyable stay in a comfortable hotel. Pleasant room, although bathroom could do with refurbishment. Food varied and of a high standard and service throughout the hotel from reception to waiters and housekeeping staff was excellent. The courtesy bus to Sorrento was a useful and welcome bonus as parking on site is limited.

Excellent stay!!Posted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: The position of the hotel and the excellent service from staff
I stayed 4 nights in this lovely hotel. I was a little worried on arriving at the hotel that it was a little distance from the centre of Sorrento, but there was no need as there is an excellent shuttle bus service that the hotel provides and there is also the public bus service that stops right outside the hotel gates. I soon realised how I had made the right decision in choosing this hotel as firstly the views were fantastic, the tranquillity of it all as well, away from all the hustle and bustle of Sorrento. It was lovely to come back after a full day of travelling and sit it the gardens or by the pool and have a drink and relax. The staff were brilliant, I could not get over how helpful they were, they went out of their way for us. The only downside (and it is so small) is that the dinner we had at the hotel was a little on the poor side, it seemed a little tasteless. Breakfasts were great, lots to choose from. I would highly recommend the restaurant the hotel recommended where the owner comes and collects you and will then obviously take you back to the hotel again afterwards. It was an excellent meal ! I would highly recommend this hotel and should I ever return to Sorrento I would certainly choose the Grand Due Golfi to stay in again.
