Beautiful location in Sorrento. Loved the hotel. The staff were very rude in the restaurant downstairs. Apparently they did not like Americans. Would not give us menus or wait on us. Concierge said we did not need reservations as we were staying in the hotel. The restaurant was half full. They seated us right away. After not being served for 15 minutes (not even a menu), we got up to leave and they said that they only served people with reservations.I left in tears. I have never experienced such rudeness.

Perfect for a romantic break.

Pros: Location & Service
Very attentive and professional service. Excellent pool area. Location is superb both for walking into town or to the harbour. Beautiful views. Ideal for a romantic break. Wouldn't take the kids though, it's not that kind of hotel and rightly so.

Going back in time!!

Pros: Breakfast, Eavening drinks on the terrace.
Cons: where the pool was situated, and, the room was too small.
Location: Excellent location, Sea view, and almost in the centre of the main square.
Beautiful building. Very convenient for the main square. Lovely Gardens. Room small, with very little space for clothing! Lovely swimming pool, but, tucked away from the sea, and the lunchtime snacks around the pool didn't have a very good outlook. block of flats on one side. Lovely terrace with view for evening drinks. Breakfast in a beautiful room, good buffet.

Gran Hotel Excelsior Vittoria in Sorrento, Italy

Posted Oct 9, 2010 on Hotels.com
The hotel is located just off a piazza(square) in the town which is very convenient for the smart shops & a couple of good quality restaurants. Even though it was October the Hotel was fairly full as were the quality restaurants. The weather was mostly excellent(1 rainy day in 5) & despite the high occupancy the Concierge desk was able to arrange a private boat, chauffeured car, etc. at very short notice. The staff were smiling, polite & helpful throughout. The spa is a bonus & the pool is excellent. The hotel restaurant food needs improvement as does the sound-proofing of the rooms; we could hear the toilets being flushed & the slightest sounds in the corridor carried through. Overall we had a wonderful stay & would definitely pick this hotel for the stay.

Lovely hotel - Wonderful location

We had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous hotel. The position is delightful overlooking the Bay of Naples. Hotel amenities really good. We had heard from other sites that the hotel may not take credit cards but the guest information stated that various cards were accepted (although we paid in cash for the extras which we had).

Sad to have to leave!

One of the best breaks we have had. Ten days of indulgence, pure and simple! The hotel is right in the centre of the town, but secluded and quiet. Views from the hotel restaurants are beautiful, whatever the weather. Staff were very attentive without being overbearing or intrusive. This is definitely a hotel we will stay at again.
