“Value for your money”

“A nice find for us via Expedia”
We visited in late Sept '07. Indeed the hotel was about a 20 min walk to the center of Sorrento; although we took a taxi from the rail station. There is a shuttle bus from the hotel to Sorrento that ran about 4 times a day, plus the public bus. We just enjoyed the walk and found a laundromat, several restaurants, an internet cafe, etc. along the way. If arriving in Sorrento by the communter train, the next to last stop is Sant Agnello. Get off here, walk out the front of the terminal about a half block to the main street. Turn RIGHT, and the hotel is only a few short blocks on the LEFT. An easy walk rolling a suitcase. There were lots of friendly Brits on holiday staying at the hotel, so we enjoyed conversing with them at breakfast, which was expansive. There have been previous comments about the hotel's coffee, but I don't drink the stuff so it did not matter to me. The tea and orange juice suited me just fine. The front desk personnel were quite helpful, and there was always someone on duty who spoke English. We had a nice view from our hotel balcony, seeing the Bay of Naples in the distance. Even got to watch a fireworks display from the balcony.
“Nice..”
This hotel had a very grand entrance with a nice fountain in the middle. The rooms were comfortable and they gave complimentary champagne. The hotel is far from EVERYTHING. If you are coming by train to Naples, take Circumvesuviano to San Agnello which is about 1 hour. The train station there is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. To go to Sorrento, its just one stop away from San Agnello. Pompeii Scavi is about a 15 -20 minute train ride.
“Great Value”
This Hotel was a 15-20 minute walk to Sorrento or one stop on the circumvesuviano train. There is a shuttle bus that the hotel provides to Sorrento but the schedule was limited since our visit was during Easter week. The hotel has a grand entrance which is misleading because the rooms are very basic. The twin beds are quite small by U.S. standards and the linens and furnishings are modest, however the room size was large for a Euro Hotel. The property is clean and the staff helpful but the decor leaves alot to be desired. The free breakfast buffet was plentiful...meats and cheeses plus scrambled eggs and bacon in warming trays and a good selection of sweet rolls. The coffee was horrible so stick to juice until you can get to a "bar". There are orange and lemon trees all around the hotel. We had three double rooms in a quite section of the hotel on the third floor. Most of us walked up to our rooms because the elevator only holds three people with bags. I would return to this hotel because the price was right given the euro exchange, but there were some spectacular hotels in Sorrento that I would also love to try.
“Nice Hotel”
Nice hotel, very close to public transportation. It might be not the best one for the people that only want to spend their entire day at the beach (there are other hotels that are closer to the sea). It's instead in a optimal position to visit Pompei, Positano and the rest of the Amalfi Coast
“Good Hotel”
A traditional family hotel
“water issue”
The first day the city have a water problem so we didn't have water for almost a day. Then our last day there was no hot water so we have to take cold showeres
“Not a 4* Hotel by any rational standards”
The staff at the Parco del Sole are very helpful and friendly. Apart from that, there is NOTHING that makes this hotel worth staying at. The quality of the rooms: the quality was around that of a mediocre (U.S.) Best Western hotel. It would be considered around 2* quality. The towels are tattered, the bedding is old and worn. There is just a tiny television with only one English channel. The pool is decent, but much smaller than the photo on Expedia makes it seem and its pretty hard to get a place in the sun to sit. The restaurant is mediocre, and apart from the included breakfast (which is awful), not worth visiting at all. There's no room service if you want a lazy day in the sun and your hotel room. This hotel is also very big with the package tour operators (there's a room with desks for each operator in the hotel itself), which means that its full of large groups of English tourists on package vacations. The location of the hotel is poor. Its not quite on the cliff edge, so you don't get great views. Its an ugly main-road walk into Sorrento. The Expedia description is accurate: there IS a hotel shuttle into Sorrento. What it doesn't say is that the shuttle runs just five times a day and so you either have to plan your day around it or manage with public transport. The shuttle is also nowhere near big enough for the crowds it needs to carry and so you're packed in like sardines.
“Very disappointed in the hotel”
The hotel merely catered to British Package Deal Tourists to the detriment of other guests. We were not allowed to eat in the dining room at a time we wanted to because of some gala for those package deal British tourists. Everything was catered to those on package deal tours. We would not stay there again. Very disappointed.
