lovely hotel with stylish public spaces

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: location is brilliant - clifftop setting gives beautiful views, but only a short walk to town centre with variety of shopping and eating out places
Cons: breakfasts were great, but evening meals overpriced and not great cuisine
Location: short walk to brilliant local railway which connects to Pompei and Naples; sits just above the port with many options for excursions by boat
a wonderfully relaxing stay, with attentive staff - the gardens beautiful in themselves, but pool and private sea bathing also excellent

Perfect Sorrento Hotel

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: Breakfast and pool and beach.
Cons: Stopping people reserving sun beds first thing in the morning by putting towels on them and leaving them there throughout the day.
Location: Well located for the town, restaurants and bars and railway station.
The hotel was well located and the breakfast, pool and beach facilities warrant particular mention.

A taste of luxury in an amazing location!

Posted Aug 13, 2014
The hotel staff were incredibly polite and helpful, the breakfasts were amazing (including a huge cake table!!), the bed was fairly hard but comfortable and the food delicious! Prices expensive but everything was. Great to be able to park the rented scooter in the garages underneath too!

Most unhelpful reception staff ever

Posted Aug 13, 2014
The communal areas of the hotel are lovely and the breakfast waiting staff and cleaners are great. In sharp contrast however some of the reception staff are highly rude and when we went to them on 2 occasions to report a problem they were very unhelpful and rude and the problems were not resolved. This hotel does not give a friendly, personal service - instead it is ran like a cold business and all they are interested in is your money.

Very convenient and pleasant hotel

Posted Aug 3, 2014
Pros: Friendly, comfortable, convenient for main areas of Sorrento.
Cons: Inclusion of tea & coffee making facilities in rooms.
Location: Plenty of local restaurants and shopping areas to explore. Close to marina fir ferries to (for example) the island of Capri.
The. Grand Royal hotel is within easy walking distance of the main square in Sorrento and has fabulous views across the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Staff are very friendly, the room was a good size and comfortable, only being slightly disappointing due to the lack of in-room tea/coffee making facilities. The buffet breakfast was very good. Cannot comment on restaurants in evening as not used (as we were attending a family wedding with pre-planned evening events).

Lovely hotel with fine view of the Bay of Naples

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: The facilities and staff were excellent
Cons: Could do with more loungers on the bottom terrace as they go fast if you are not early. Usual habit of people putting towels on loungers early am.
Location: Very central to walk into the old town or to the station. Longer walk to the port which talks about 20 mins.
We used this hotel for a week on the Amalfi coast. The hotel is very central and a short walk to the town centre and station.
