“Better than the star rating would indicate”

This was one of the better hotels we stayed at in Italy. While not a 5-star hotel, for a European hotel, we found the decor, cleanliness, location and service of staff were really nice. I wouldn't rush to eat dinner there, but go out into the main square for better dining and an active area.

“Grand Hotel Royal in Sorrento is a winner”

The Grand Hotel Royal in Sorrento is a great find. The lobby and public areas are lovely, the service is wonderful and the view from the pool area is exquisite. We were extremely happy with our stay and would go back in a minute.

“WOW what a view !!”

If in Sorrento this is the place to stay. The room floor are done in hand painted Italian tile. (not my particular taste, however is very nice) The breakfast buffet is quite nice and overlooks the bay of Naples ontop of an impressive rock face. The location is a quick walk from the train station and close to town centre. Rooms clean and the service from staff very good. Oh and remember to bring your bathing suit for they have an excellent pool as well.

“Very nice hotel would return”

This hotel is beautiful and the rooms are larger and nicer than any european standards we have seen. We had a room with a beautiful ocean view that could not be beat. The breakfast was also very good. The staff was very helpful when we needed assistance. They came right to the room with a maintenance question we had and were friendly, concise and helpful. The room itself was beautiful with a lot of wood pieces with the classic Sorrento inlaid patterns on it. The only recommendation I would have for this hotel is the wireless internet. You can only access it from the lobby and have to pay by the hour for it. It would have just been nice to be able to access from the room but I suppose that may be up and coming. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Wonderful Vacation!”

We chose this hotel because of its location from the train station and its location to the water. We were very pleased with everything. The staff was very accomidating and friendly. The location was great for Sorrento activities as well as the bus ride to the Amalfi coast and the ferries to Capri. Would definitely stay here again. The hotel has a beautiful back deck if you feel like doing nothing.

“Great View from Room”

You can't go wrong with the Grand Hotel Royal. After reading many editorials about "not getting your hopes up with the size/condition of the rooms" when staying in Italy, they were definitely NOT talking about this one. We had a great time there and would definitely book there again. The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful.

“Grand Royal Hotel, Sorrento, Italy”

Just got back from the most wonderful vacation I have ever had, and trust me I have been on many. I booked this hotel without really knowing what I was going to get but I must tell you it was perfect. The location is just down the street from the center of town and across the street from a magnificent string of shops and restuarants and also the train station which took us to Pompeii without taking our car out of the garage. So inexpensive and safe. The employees of the hotel are so helpful and friendly, I was amazed as we asked questions everyday as to where a certain place was or a route to take by car. The weather was beautiful 75-80 degrees everyday. Sorrento is a place to visit many many times and as for the hotel, we will definitely be back soon. Thank you for a wonderful experience. caio, bella Virginia & Dennis, Danvers, Mass. Oct. 2006

“"SORRENTO'S FINEST"”

We spent 4 days at this amazing hotel and wished we could have spent the rest of the year there. First of all, the people are fantastic and speak very good english and were very helpful. The breakfast buffet is the best we have experienced in all of Italy. They have an Omellette bar, fresh made pastries and to all of the American tourists "real bacon". Phenomenal views from our deck of Mt. Vesuvius and Naples, and the location could not be better. Walk to the ferries that take you to Capri and 5 minutes to downtown Sorrento. We checked out at 0500 and the concierge packed us a lunch of fresh pastries, juice and sandwiches because they didn't want us to go hungry. This is a top notch Hotel and in my opinion a 5 star with 5 star people. Kudos to the staff at the Grand Hotel Royal. We will be back one day for sure.
