lovely hotel with amazing view of bay

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: beautiful position and lovely gardens. Foyer and restaurant area beautifully furnished - very grand!
Cons: Noise from furniture being moved and people walking around overhead with shoes on very noticeable because of tiled floors. Restaurant overpriced
Overall a nice stay although disturbed by noise from other guests. Reception staff very helpful although restaurant staff not as friendly

Elegant hotel in a quiet area.

Posted Nov 5, 2013
Pros: The location
Cons: Nothing
Location: Great location. Near center of town and many restaurants.
This hotel is located on the cliffs overlooking the Sorrento Bay with an excellent Garden for enjoying the sea sights and Mt Vesuvius during the day and viewing the lights of Naples at night. Garden area was well equipped with comfortable furniture and a gazebo for protection from inclement weather. Breakfast was served in a very nicely decorated and bright room. Breakfast was very good. Excellent preparation of local pastries, cheeses, meats, fruits and many other items. Service was efficient and very polite.

returne. Our return to our favourite hotel.

Pros: Everything!
Location: Pompeii ,Herculanium and Vesuvius can easily be reached using the local train. Positano & Amalfi can be visited using local buses. Stunning scenery!
We have just stayed here for a second time and once again had a most enjoyable holiday. The hotel is very elegant and yet is very comfortable, relaxed and friendly. The staff are efficient, helpful and welcoming. The hotel is in an excellent position close to the town centre and near the bus and train stations. It has lovely gardens, and a stunning view over the bay.

October in the Royal Hotel

Posted Nov 1, 2013
Pros: Location, comfort and level of service.
Location: Pompeii - go by train. Boat trips to Capri or Positano. Guided tours to the Amalfi coast. Endless walks in a stunning area.
Our stay at the Grand Hotel Royal was perfect. We were made to feel very welcome right from the start by a friendly staff. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with a balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The gardens and terraces were stunning, the hotel being situated on the cliff top overlooking the Porto harbour. Breakfast was included in our deal and the choice from the hot and cold buffet was excellent. It was just a few minutes walk into the centre of Sorrento, the Piazza Tasso and the narrow shopping streets around Via San Cesareo. Sorrento is a great place to chill in a stunningly beautiful place but has countless opportunities to take excursions by bus train or car to the local area to experience much, much more. October is a good time to go if you don't like it too hot!

It was our first time in Sorrento and the Grand Hotel Royal made our stay even that much more perfect! The grounds and facilities are superb and the view from our Hotel balcony was BREATHTAKING. The hotel is in a most convenient location - within walking distance of great shopping, restaurants and the boat liners that take you over to the Isle of Capri. The hotels restaurant was lovely and the food and service was excellent!

Very arrogant reception

Posted Oct 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had a suite to overlook the gardens. There are no gardens to overlook. We overlooked the street and beyond the street was a public park that they described as their garden. We were changed to their other hotel about a 12 miinute walk further away and again the front desk was arrogant and rude. The Grand Hotel Royal and The Ambassadori Hotel are both lovely with very nice rooms, nice food but a more arrogant and rude reception was unncessary. We stayed for 6 nights and we asked for a extension as our driver was to pick us up at 2:00 PM They had rules and the rules were not to be broken so they only allowed a 1:00 extension.

Fantastic weekend stay!

When we first arrived at the Hotel, I honestly thought I was in the wrong place!! It is wonderful!! The pictures do not do this place justice. Our car was parked for us, our bags taken to our room and drinks provided because the room wasn't ready. The staff are wonderful and helpful, even at the end of the season. Breakfast was extensive, and supper was wonderful with a good choice of wine. It is not far to the city centre, where a wealth of restaurants and tourist shopping can be found. Would we go again? Oh yes, yes indeed. Planning already.

beautiful and easy location

Posted Oct 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
The people that work here are very friendly and helpful. The food is very good and the service excellent. The hotel is in a convenient location to transportation, but far enought away, so you do not hear a thing. The view they have of the bay is out of this world, as is the gardens. Do be careful of the slippery tiles around the pool.
