Elegant hotel in a quiet area.Posted Nov 5, 2013
Pros: The location
Location: Great location. Near center of town and many restaurants.
This hotel is located on the cliffs overlooking the Sorrento Bay with an excellent Garden for enjoying the sea sights and Mt Vesuvius during the day and viewing the lights of Naples at night. Garden area was well equipped with comfortable furniture and a gazebo for protection from inclement weather. Breakfast was served in a very nicely decorated and bright room. Breakfast was very good. Excellent preparation of local pastries, cheeses, meats, fruits and many other items. Service was efficient and very polite.

returne. Our return to our favourite hotel.Posted Nov 4, 2013
Location: Pompeii ,Herculanium and Vesuvius can easily be reached using the local train. Positano & Amalfi can be visited using local buses. Stunning scenery!
We have just stayed here for a second time and once again had a most enjoyable holiday. The hotel is very elegant and yet is very comfortable, relaxed and friendly. The staff are efficient, helpful and welcoming. The hotel is in an excellent position close to the town centre and near the bus and train stations. It has lovely gardens, and a stunning view over the bay.

October in the Royal HotelPosted Nov 1, 2013
Pros: Location, comfort and level of service.
Location: Pompeii - go by train. Boat trips to Capri or Positano. Guided tours to the Amalfi coast. Endless walks in a stunning area.
Our stay at the Grand Hotel Royal was perfect. We were made to feel very welcome right from the start by a friendly staff. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with a balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. The gardens and terraces were stunning, the hotel being situated on the cliff top overlooking the Porto harbour. Breakfast was included in our deal and the choice from the hot and cold buffet was excellent. It was just a few minutes walk into the centre of Sorrento, the Piazza Tasso and the narrow shopping streets around Via San Cesareo. Sorrento is a great place to chill in a stunningly beautiful place but has countless opportunities to take excursions by bus train or car to the local area to experience much, much more. October is a good time to go if you don't like it too hot!

Fantastic weekend stay!Posted Oct 30, 2013
When we first arrived at the Hotel, I honestly thought I was in the wrong place!! It is wonderful!! The pictures do not do this place justice. Our car was parked for us, our bags taken to our room and drinks provided because the room wasn't ready. The staff are wonderful and helpful, even at the end of the season. Breakfast was extensive, and supper was wonderful with a good choice of wine. It is not far to the city centre, where a wealth of restaurants and tourist shopping can be found. Would we go again? Oh yes, yes indeed. Planning already.

Central location in Sorrento.Posted Oct 26, 2013
Pros: Everything!!! We plan to return whenever we travel to Sorrento.
Location: Perfect location. Two short blocks to the central piazza (Sasso). Across the street from the Circumvesuviana train station. Very convenient to many
This hotel is perfectly located in central Sorrento across the street from the train station. The staff was absolutely outstanding, responsive to every request. The breakfast buffet was as good or better than any we have experienced. The view of the Bay of Naples from our terrace was unbeatable. Room 100 has a huge terrace overlooking the bay.

Pros: everything about the hotel was very good, service, décor, cleanliness and location
Cons: it would be good if they could offer free guest parking
Location: the hotel has a fantastic location close to the centre of the town. Sorrento is a bustling resort packed with shops and eating establishments.
We had a wonderful weeks stay in this great hotel. Sorrento is a fantastic base for exploring this region of Italy.

Position, position, position! Perfecto!Posted Sep 28, 2013
Pros: Classy perfection in a position that cannot, in our opinion, be bettered.
Cons: Heated pool out of season?
We treated ourselves for our anniversary to the best hotel we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Spotless rooms and public areas, classy touches through and through, we cannot find fault anywhere. Top of the list of "perfects" though has to be the hotels position. 5 minutes walk to town centre and railway station yet quiet at night, then there's the outlook. It has manicured gardens that lead to a simply stunning vista of Vesuvius and the bay of Naples. Fancy a swim? Take the lift ! You are taken down to a series of decking areas where you can swim or take in the sea . A bar and snack bar are also down at sea level. We had a basic room which does overlook a road running at the back of the hotel but why worry when in 2 minutes you are sipping a cool beer in a comfy chair looking at that view! Sea view rooms were too expensive for us and the trip was not cheap, you do , in this case , get what you pay for and for us it was worth every penny

Beautiful and convenient on the cliff.Posted Sep 23, 2013
Pros: The proximity to station, the town, and the wonderful view and grounds made for a very nice visit.
Cons: The staff were helpful when approached and were generally accommodating. They just didn't seem happy or enthusiastic about their work..
Location: Public transportation is convenient, inexpensive, and late. What you saved in $ you spent in chaos and crowd's. Buses and trains were packed.
Beautiful grounds with pool and elevator to the beach below. It is really quite peasant and scenic. A very short walk to center of town and across the park to the train and bus station. You can't beat the convenience and location. The "standard" room was basic with French doors to a first floor "balcony" facing some shrubbery and useful only for sneaking a smoke. The bed was worn and uncomfortable and we were not impressed. We requested a better room and were willing to pay for an upgrade but there were no upgrades available. They were able to move us down the hall with equivalent accommodations but with a better mattress which was more acceptable. Unlike the rest of the hotel the room seemed a bit 'tired'. We requested private car service from the airport and the hotel made the arrangements to have a driver meet us take us directly to the hotel. It was pricey but worth avoiding the confusion in a strange place where we really didn't know where we were going..
