unpleasant hotel
Posted Jan 23, 2011
Breakfast was only rolls and jam, cheap cornflakes, dry cake and yoghurt, no cheese, ham or fruit, even the cutlery had a cheap metal taste. The exit and last 200 yards of the walk to the hotel was incredibly dangerous. The plumbing was antiquated and unpleasant. The TV didn't work and we had no balcony. There was no bar or anywhere for coffee in the evening. Our room was a big dark oblong and never got any sun.

The Hotel britannia-a walk to central sorrento
Posted Jan 7, 2010 on Hotels.com
Staff were very friendly and willing to help with any information requested of them. The hotel Decor is a throw back to the 70s but very clean. breakfast consists of cereal, yoghurts, tea, coffee & croissants. The bus to & from sorrento centre stops right outside the door but to walk into sorrento takes 20min on a busy road but the views are stunning, Not the lap of luxury but worth the money you pay. Fine for a short stay.

No frills but friendly service
Posted Jan 7, 2010 on Hotels.com
There is a reason why Hotel Britannia is such a good price compared to other hotels in Sorrento. Its location is not convenient to the centre of town, so buy some bus tickets or have cab money ready! It's also very basic, no frills at all, the bathroom is poky and the best you could say is that it's clean. The breakfast is the minimum they could get away with too. On the plus side, it was a very good price and the staff were incredibly helpful. If you want to do Sorrento on the cheap, this is the place for you.

Too far from Sorrento
Posted Jan 27, 2010 on Hotels.com
This hotel was supposed to be a 3 star hotel. It was not, maybe a 2 star at best. There was mildew on the shower curtain and the bathroom was very cramped with no shelves in the shower to put soap, shampoo etc. The walk from town was about 10 minutes up a fairly steep hill along a road that did not have a sidewalk in some spots. At night we were concerned about being hit by a car. Do not pay for the breakfast as it was generally pretty bad. We would not stay at this hotel again. Pay extra and stay in town

just a place to sleep

The location is about 1500 meter from city center. walking is an adventure narrow street and no pavement. Better use the bus that stops near the hotel entrance,

the coast road is so noisy!
Posted Jan 18, 2009
This hotel was a fair way up the hill from Sorrento town, which was quite annoying as everything was in the town. The breakfasts were terrible, with fake croissants (bread shaped like croissant) and cheap cereal. It got really noisy as the rooms were right on the side of the road were all the buses go past to go to Amalfi and they all beep their horns when going around corners, this doesn't stop at all so bring your era plugs. The hotel was really old and always had problems with the toilets flushing. Beds were so uncomfortable.

Great value, exceptional service
Posted Jan 20, 2009
This hotel is located at 1,5 km from city center, but the walk there is very nice (although you have to go up when you go back to the hotel). You can see the sea from the front rooms and a lime plantation at the back, not so bad. Staff is wonderful, very polite and helpful. There is free parking and they even offered to leave my car there while I was away on Capri for 2 days. Breakfast is simple but good (cappucino, juice, bread, preserves, butter, etc). The room although simple and without air conditioning is very clean and spacious. Bathroom was super clean, water and towels just perfect. The staff makes you feel at home, welcomed and safe. It is not luxurious at all, but even so I recommend it (unless you dont like to walk...). Great value for a nice experince.

We'd Stay Again!
Posted Jan 18, 2009 on Hotels.com
A great little hotel for the price. Try and get room #39 which has a lemon grove behind it and a balcony that overlooks the bay from the mountains. The people at the hotel were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was also very nice. The location about a 10 minute scenic walk to the center of Sorrento. We loved the place and would stay again.
