excellent Sorrento Italy hotelPosted Oct 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
I don't understand why anyone would give this hotel any negative comments! When we arrived I asked for a room with a balcony since I hadn't booked the more expensive sea view room. I was told they had upgraded me to a sea view room free of charge. The room and view was outstanding as was the service. We had a buffet breakfast as part of our package and the food was excellent! The only draw back was no free WiFi in the whole hotel. It was 5 euros per hour in the lobby but most of the "bars" had free Wifi so it was just a small inconvenience.. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Sorrento area

nice hotel - snooty servicePosted Sep 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
nice hotel, clean, great breakfast. although the staff was helpful, they were found to be snooty. also, they charged €10 for wifi even though it was terribly slow.

DisappointedPosted Jul 23, 2013
Cons: Beds, pillows, more for breakfast with paying extra, nice attitudes of front desk...
Location: Village behind to have dinner...
Do research. Expensive taxi to get there... Or bus ride that takes a bit.. Nice little village behind hotel ..employes not very friendly. Breakfast average.. Have to pay extra for eggs... Expensive wifi that can only be used in lobby....bed hard hard hard....not very informative about things and how to get there....we took hotel bus to beach drop off point and walked to sister hotel. Paid pricey fee for chairs and umbrellas on crowed dock...oh we were given a "nice" pool view room...with no lift...that should be discounted rate... 38 spiral stairs to get to room....small..the stairs a killer ...so we planned our trips to and from... Would not recommend . Be nice to Americans !!

Fantastic viewPosted Jul 8, 2013
Pros: Free parking, view from hotel and from room, silent area. Not crowded as Sorrento. Friendy and helpful staf.
Cons: Free internet at lobby area would be fine.
Location: Location is not walking distance to Sorrento town. We haven't used shuttle. No place around hotel by walking.
We have stayed 4 nights. Sorrento is 8-10 minutes by car. I think it would be expensive by car going to Sorrento.

Immaculately clean, excellent staffPosted Jun 15, 2013
Pros: Room was clean and a good size.
Cons: No extra activities/ facilities for young children
Location: Perfectly located between sorrento/ Pompeii and amalfi coast
Hotel was very accommodating to our family. Although not tailored directly at families with young children, we were well looked after. The hotel was immaculate and we had our own balcony area with gate so our 19mo old toddler could play outside safely. Meals in restaurant- at breakfast and dinner were well priced and delicious. Staff were friendly.

Beautiful Views - Nice AccommodationsPosted May 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel Jaccarino is located on the hill above Sorrento, in the village of Sant' Agata sui due Golfi, and from the roof of the monestary at Il Deserto above the city you can look down on both the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Sorrento, therefore the "due Golfi". It is a spectacular location. The hotel is very nice and the dining room staff was very welcoming. You are about a 20 minute drive from the town of Sorrento and the cab ride was $45 Euro. The hotel does offer a free shuttle to town, which you must book 24 hours in advance, and the local bus service is excellent and the bus stops right in front of the hotel. We took the bus to Positano and Amalfi - the ride was about 1 hour 15 minutes to Amalfi, and the roundtrip bus ticket was about 7 Euro per person. Easy. The Tourist Office next to the church in the town was very helpful. The view from our room was great, the bathroom nice sized with a combo tub/shower. The bed was hard and not so comfortable. The front desk staff was efficient but not particularly warm or helpful.

Quiet, comfortable and friendlyPosted Sep 23, 2012
Pros: Loved the view from the terrace. Enjoyed the big breakfast.
Cons: The 'pinging' of the lift bell.
Location: Advice: SITA bus to Amalfi will be crowded to bursting. Board at Sorrento and get there early! Warning: Italians are not good with info or signage!
Good location, situated close to St Agata (5 minutes walk on footpath). Regular buses to Sorrento and Amalfi stop outside the hotel. Excellent view of Vesuvius and the bay of Naples from the Veranda. This is a very pleasant and friendly hotel. Common areas such as the lounge were spacious, comfortable and well furnished. Our room was reasonably spacious with a decent sized bathroom. A safe was included at no extra charge. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and of reasonable quality. However, the coffee served (judging by its flavour and lack of caffeine kick) seemed to be Café d'Orzo, a coffee substitute made from roasted barley and common in the region. The evening meals were good quality and reasonably priced but the restaurant was too brightly lit for my taste and as such had a 'canteen' rather than a relaxing atmosphere. On the downside: the very audible 'ping' of the lift bell as it reached our floor could be heard clearly in our room. Irksome after a while! The hotel bus service was quite limited. All in all, a good place to stay if you want to explore the Amalfi coast, Naples, Pompeii etc. Definitely recommended.

Great views and pool but poor servicePosted Aug 3, 2012
Pros: Views, pool and closeness to Sant Agata
Cons: The bar staff and reception staff
We chose this hotel for the lovely pool, views and nearness to Sant Agata. All of this met our expectations but the attitude of the Maitre D at the bar/pool bar was so supercilious it was almost beyond him to serve people. We never saw him smile - at anyone! Also the reception staff were not helpful when we approached them. Our room had a lovely view but lacked the 4 star touches we expected. The pillows were either rock hard or as if full of rubble, we had no cushions for our balcony chairs (even after asking) and the water glasses were never washed or exchanged. However the pool was superb and we wandered into the village each evening for a lovely meal amongst local families. The sun shone and the Shuttle bus to Sorrento worked well for us.

Italian VillaPosted Jun 6, 2012
Pros: The views from our ocean front suite. Simply breath-taking.
Cons: Limited hours for room service, the pool's snack bar and the hotel's only restaurant.
Location: If you can manage the climb up the mountain you will certainly enjoy the views overlooking Sorrento and the Gulf of Naples.
Hotel Jaccarino is a converted mansion, with many sitting rooms and lounges to enjoy. We enjoyed sitting by the pool, loved the terrace which overlooks Sorrento, breath-taking views and the hotel staff were really nice. Their food is really good as well. And the small town shops and resturants are only a few minutes walk from the hotel. That said, I suggest renting a car which will give you more choice when wanting to explore the areas nearby, like Sorrento and Pompeii. Just be prepared for driving up incredible winding mountain roads where in places you'll need to stop to allow buses and other larger vehicles right of way.
