Amazing view

Posted Sep 20, 2014
Pros: The view
Cons: A little maintenance could be done to spiffy it up.
Location: The location was 10 min walk out of town. Lots of shopping, deep valley of the mills nearby and it's own beach access.
We were a little nervous walking along via Capo trying to find the hotel. However once we arrived we couldn't have asked for a more stunning view of Mount Vesuvius and the town of Sorrento. It's definately worth paying for the sea view!! Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast (included) was great (regular fair plus omlettes).

The beach and the balcony makes this place. Be sure to ask for a room with a balcony!

Pros: View,
Cons: Bed was too hard.
Location: Up the hill about 10 minute walk
We enjoyed a lovely dinner on the terrace with a fabulous view of Capri. Exactly like the pic. Staff was very willing to accommodate. Beautiful old building great decor. The bed was the only thing not up to par.

Awesomel views

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: Surrounded by the most beautiful foliage, waterfalls, flowers - nature at it's best!
Cons: Access to the beach.
Location: Hotel is 10 minute walk to town, with many nice restaurants, shops, etc.
Beautiful surrounding views. Grounds with lovely terrace, flowers and gardens. Very nice, friendly and helpful staff. Abundant and varied breakfast. The Hotel has access to the beach. It's a beautiful, long and winding road. Then you need to get into a small elevator to reach the beach. Brink beach shoes, it's very rocky. I would stay there again

Beautiful view from dining room and balcony. No view from our room but a private little pation. About 15 minute walk to the town but it is a narrow sidewalk and uphill all the way back. Breakfast buffet was great. Made to order eggs, bacon and Cappuccino, plenty of fresh fruit. Did have ants in our room but they addressed it when I called. Room and bathroom spacious and comfortable. No bath tub in our room. Had to call about lack of hot water, but this was taken care of quickly. Restaurant prices for dinner were expensive and not many choices.

Great views

Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: Location, views
Cons: better elevator access if it's possible.
Location: hanging in downtown sorrento. vising Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast and visiting Capri.
Sorrento, Italy in general is a beautiful area away from the hustle and bustle of Naples. La Tonarella is a nice area with friendly staff, but as it is an older building there were lots of stairs making it difficult to move large luggage. The elevator/lift doesn't quite work well either. Otherwise it's quiet, simple, and with great views of Mt. Vesuvius.

The room was quaint but lovely, and the balcony and the view are hard to beat! There was nothing "wrong" with this hotel, but there were so many details that were not right! The private beach left something to be desired, all rocks and the snack shack was less than appetizing. The scary one-eyed cat that would not leave me alone while I was down there made the beach experience even more discomforting. The front desk staff may need a refresher course on customer service. But, if you just want a pretty place to rest your head and you go use the beach in Marina Grande, this place is nice.

Don't Waste Your Money

Posted May 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon at this hotel and it was horrible. 1. Our A/C did not work it and we could not sleep because of being uncomfortable. 2. The walls in the rooms are very thin and you can hear traffic at all hours, cars honking their horns, drunk people screaming on the street at 1am, and other guests flushing their toilets/taking showers(you can hear it coming from multiple rooms not just one). 3. The bathrooms are below par: you need to flush the toilet 2-3 times in order for water to go through the toilet, the showers are roughly 24 inches by 24 inches and you can hardly move. It is also not too encouraging when you have a drain in the middle of your bathroom floor either. 4. The bed is hard as a rock and seems as if the pillows are filled with sand. 5. The hotel is about 1 mile from town and about 1.5 miles from the port. You have to take a taxi which is about 20 euros. 6. The breakfast that was included in our price was meager at best. The walk to and from town is nice, but if you are transporting bags I would not recommend it. Other than this, the hotel is situated on a cliff overlooking the Sea with its own private beach(there are also additional fees for towels, chairs, etc). If you looking at a hotel based price or convenience, there are other 3 star hotels in town with a nice view of the Sea. Bottom line, I have stayed at hostels(yes, hostels from many years ago) nicer than this hotel and going to ask Hotels.com for a refund.
