“Great Hotel”
The service was fantastic. Buses run frequently with a stop just in front of the hotel. The rooms with a view are best, but if you choose not to splurge, you won 't miss out as there is a large patio for dining and/or relaxing. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful.
“Nice hotel in Sorrento”
Hotel Minerva is in a beautiful location overlooking the cliffs and town of Sorrento. Our room was facing the ocean and had a balcony. We got a great deal on Expedia but I think it's because we were there in the off season in April. The staff at the front desk was extremely helpful and they spoke great English. They set up a dinner reservation for us and they were very friendly. The hotel itself was really nice but was slightly outdated. However, it was very nice for European standards. Hotel Minerva is a short 10 minute walk down to the town of Sorrento which is nice after a long meal in the town. I would recommend Hotel Minerva and we would stay there on our next trip to Sorrento! BTW, plan to spend about $20 on a cab ride to the train station even though it's only about a 2 miles ride.
“Now I understand the Italian song Torna a Surriento”
I have traveled to Italy many times, but have never experienced the Sorrentine Peninsula as a "home base". Minerva was the ideal hotel in the ideal location. The front office staff were delicious Southern Italian people who understand service and hospitality. The rooms were ample and clean. The location was perfect to get to the islands, Naples and Pompeii. Franco, who worked at the pool, was a classic, warm character from any great Italian movie. You'll love it!
“Gorgeous views of Sorrento”
Quiet, elegant rooms, many with balconies that enjoy some of the best views of Sorrento and Vesuvius. The simplicity of the decor in public areas feature soothing colors and tile designs that enhance the views. The front desk and other staff are very cordial and helpful, adding to the charming hospitality overall. We stayed for a week and found this to be a perfect base for exploring Sorrento and nearby areas, such as Capri and Positano. The only drawback is the short walk to town, on a very narrow sidewalk, quite high above the shore, alongside rapidly moving traffic. As an alternative, a local bus (one Euro) stops near the hotel entrance, but it does not run late at night. For us, it was worth this inconvenience for the peaceful views and serene location on a steep rise above the rest of the city. Not recommended for those with strollers or difficulty walking.
“cant wait to go back!”
My girlfriend and I visited the Minerva in mid may and from the second we got there it was great. The friendliest and helpful stall, the views, and ovverall elegance of the hotel was top notch. We are planning on going back and spending a few nights at the minerva!!! Un bel albergo!!
“Molto Bello! at the Minerva”
This hotel was an overall winner. After having been disappointed by several other Italian hotels that we stayed in during this 3-week tour of Italy, the Minerva was wonderful. Remember the European and American star-rating system is VERY different when booking your accomodations! This was, by American terms, a *** 1/2! Staff were very friendly/helpful. Breakfast was superb (first time we were offered eggs in Italy). Room was very clean. The view from this place was breath-taking and it was very accessible to Sorrento's action, but quiet enough in the evening.
“Spectular View”
We were originally booked for the Minerva hotel but they were closed for the Christmas holidays. They changed our reservations to their sister hotel, Hotel Bristol. We were completely satisfied with the hotel and the service from the front desk to the restaurant. All employees were helpful and extremely friendly. The restaurant food was very good, the service was wonderful and the view spectacular.
“My Favorite Destination”
I love the Hotel and the view from the Hotel, the staff are very courteous and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. My only complaint was that we would come into our room at the end of the day and find that the maid had opened our interior window and failed to close it when she left; we had closed it when we left that morning. That said, we will try to stay at Minerva every time we are in Sorrento. It is the best, by far, and we stayed in numerous hotels throughout Italy.
“Beautiful Hotel!”
WE HAD A FANTASTIC STAY! THE VIEW FROM OUT OUR ROOM WAS BREATHTAKING! TWO POOL AT THE HOTEL WITH FANTASTIC VIEWS AS WELL.
“Stunning views”
Beautiful views of the Bay of Naples from our room with a cozy balcony. A wonderful hotel & a wonderful stay. My only caution would be regarding the parking. It is very cramped & the hotel staff parked my car (rental) for me & I subsequently noticed 2 new dings in the car (though too late to do anything about it). Other than that, no complaints. I did hear from other guests that some rooms don't have much of any view, so I'd be sure to request an ocean view room with a private balcony if possible.
