We loved our hotel!

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: The location, staff and peacefulness of the hotel.
Cons: Everything was just right for us.
Location: The city of Sorrento was only a 15 minute bus ride from our hotel. The hotel provided a shuttle many times a day to the city for the train, bus, boats
We enjoyed our stay in Sorrento Italy. Our hotel LaVue D'Or was great. My family and thought the location was perfect with great views. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again if we travel back to Sorrento Italy.

Excellent hotel in fantastic location

Posted Jun 5, 2014
Pros: Location, and general relaxed atmosphere. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were ample.
Cons: To be honest, the Hotel brochure, and even on-line pictures don't really do this place justice! It's even better than it looked
Location: Location just outside of Sorrento is spot on if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town. The free shuttle bus service is excellent
We enjoyed an excellent stay at this hotel. Ideally placed in a quiet location on the edge of Sorrento. Magnificent views of Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples, this was a really clean, friendly and pleasant hotel. Whether you want to relax by the pool, or take advantage of the free shuttle bus in town, the hotel was the perfect base. We really enjoyed out stay, and will be returning asap!

First holiday to Italy

Posted Apr 28, 2014
Pros: The staff and the amazing view.
Cons: Longer time for lunch/snack menu.
Location: It is about 10-15 minutes from Sorrento and there you can find plenty to do and explore.
Before we flew to visit Italy, I contacted the hotel to inquire about transfers. They replied quickly with information on organising a taxi on our behalf, the bus transfer timetable and the trains. Also they emailed us a map with information about their shuttle bus service from Sorrento. On arriving at the hotel, we were presented with a clean comfortable room with the best view from a hotel we have ever had. We stayed in a superior triple room, this included a double bed and a single. The bathroom had fluffy towels, a corner shower which always had plenty of hot water. We decided to eat in the restaurant that night, which also has the amazing view, very attentive staff and good Italian food. The breakfast buffet was also always plentiful. There was coffees, tea, juice, cold meats, cheese, pasties, cakes, rolls, toast, jams, cereal , yogurt and juices. There is also a bar which has a light lunch menu. The hotel provide a free shuttle bus to sorrento, which takes about 10-15 minutes which is invaluable and there is also free internet from their desktop PC (3). Or you can pay a small fee for internet. There is also a pool and sun loungers to enjoy the Italian sun and again the amazing view. I cannot say enough about the staff, they are all wonderful and cannot do enough to make your stay as enjoyable as it can be.

We had a great stay

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, very clean and food was good
Cons: Shuttle bus when we used it wasn't a great experience, although it was a very busy night to use it to be fair.
A good hotel with some brilliant views, clean, friendly staff, good food. We had a car so had more freedom than others. The shuttle bus was fairly regular into Sorrento (too far to walk) but on one particularly busy night (when I left the car behind so I could have a glass of wine or two) the bus was oversubscribed, we just about got on it and we and our kids had to stand which we were not too happy about as you were supposed to reserve a seat on that particular shuttle so the system wasn't being adhered to. A minor issue really. We had a great stay and would recommend the hotel, but we were glad we had a car as it gave us so much more flexibility and we didn't have to wait around for the bus and go when they wanted us to go every time we wanted to go anywhere.

Lovely family hotel with stunning views

Posted Nov 3, 2013
Pros: Location, stunning views, friendly & helpful staff, clean and welcoming environment, courtesy shuttle
Cons: I can't think of anything that could be improved :)
Location: Sorrento is easily accessible by shuttle or local bus, things to do incl. road train, walking tours, beach, Amalfi coast, Positano, Ravello, Capri etc
This is the second time we have stayed at La Vue D'Or and we were not disappointed with our decision to return to this lovely family hotel, with stunning views. Although not in the actual town of Sorrento the courtesy shuttle bus travels back and forth throughout the day and evening and we did not find it a problem. The local bus passes within feet of the hotel and you can travel easily and reasonably to Positano and Amalfi or to and from the town if you decide not to use the shuttle. The staff are friendly, helpful and speak English. The rooms we have had, have had pleasant d├ęcor and have been very clean, with en-suite facilities also very clean and "service cleaned" daily. The pool and pool area are clean and appreciated after a day sight-seeing! Snacks are available during the afternoon and the bar is open from mid-morning to late night. Excursions including Pompeii, Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, Capri etc & taxi's are available through the hotel. Computers are available foc and wifi for own eqpt for small fee. During our stay my daughter unfortunately required emergency medical attention. The staff were exceptional. I cannot speak highly enough of their help and support during this time. They really went over and above expectations. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to travel to Sorrento or wishing to visit the Amalfi coast. It is the ideal location for sight-seeing with the comfort for relaxation in a welcoming environment on return.

Good Hotel Overlooking Sorrento

Posted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: Good hiking trail connections which allow you to hike right to the Amalfi coast and avoid the main roads.
Cons: The hotel is connected to Sorrento by a shuttle bus which runs about 8 times a day. It would be good if the first afternoon bus started at 4:30.
Location: Lots of hiking opportunities. With a combination of the shuttle and the commuter train, you are 70 minutes away from Pompeii.
The hotel is located about 15 minutes drive above Sorrento. It has a nice pool, excellent views, and reasonable breakfast included. We had stayed there for 10 days as a "base" for the Sorrento area. It is a 25 minute walk down to Sorrento and a 15 minute walk up to the next small town.

Really nice but too far from city

Posted Oct 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
I loved the hotel however, it says that it's .74 miles from the city center when in fact it is 7.4 miles. Cost us $40 extra dollars that we were not planning on spending.

Breakfast

Posted Oct 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
As far as Italian breakfasts go it is good to get quite a good spread but getting coffee from a machine that clearly is not capable of making quality coffee and the lack of fresh fruit is disappionting. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay. Staff are very friendly. This is my second visit. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to a friend

Excellent hotel,lovely views.

Posted Sep 29, 2013
Cons: We would book again tomorrow 100%, if the hotel rooms had some sort of fridge in them.
Location: Great location far enough out of town to escape it all, wich wasnt a problem as they have an excellent shuttle bus service.
Very good overall experience, excellent shuttle bus to and from town with great views across the bay of naples.
