Lovely family hotel with stunning views

Posted Nov 3, 2013
Pros: Location, stunning views, friendly & helpful staff, clean and welcoming environment, courtesy shuttle
Cons: I can't think of anything that could be improved :)
Location: Sorrento is easily accessible by shuttle or local bus, things to do incl. road train, walking tours, beach, Amalfi coast, Positano, Ravello, Capri etc
This is the second time we have stayed at La Vue D'Or and we were not disappointed with our decision to return to this lovely family hotel, with stunning views. Although not in the actual town of Sorrento the courtesy shuttle bus travels back and forth throughout the day and evening and we did not find it a problem. The local bus passes within feet of the hotel and you can travel easily and reasonably to Positano and Amalfi or to and from the town if you decide not to use the shuttle. The staff are friendly, helpful and speak English. The rooms we have had, have had pleasant d├ęcor and have been very clean, with en-suite facilities also very clean and "service cleaned" daily. The pool and pool area are clean and appreciated after a day sight-seeing! Snacks are available during the afternoon and the bar is open from mid-morning to late night. Excursions including Pompeii, Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, Capri etc & taxi's are available through the hotel. Computers are available foc and wifi for own eqpt for small fee. During our stay my daughter unfortunately required emergency medical attention. The staff were exceptional. I cannot speak highly enough of their help and support during this time. They really went over and above expectations. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to travel to Sorrento or wishing to visit the Amalfi coast. It is the ideal location for sight-seeing with the comfort for relaxation in a welcoming environment on return.

Good Hotel Overlooking Sorrento

Posted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: Good hiking trail connections which allow you to hike right to the Amalfi coast and avoid the main roads.
Cons: The hotel is connected to Sorrento by a shuttle bus which runs about 8 times a day. It would be good if the first afternoon bus started at 4:30.
Location: Lots of hiking opportunities. With a combination of the shuttle and the commuter train, you are 70 minutes away from Pompeii.
The hotel is located about 15 minutes drive above Sorrento. It has a nice pool, excellent views, and reasonable breakfast included. We had stayed there for 10 days as a "base" for the Sorrento area. It is a 25 minute walk down to Sorrento and a 15 minute walk up to the next small town.

Really nice but too far from city

Posted Oct 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
I loved the hotel however, it says that it's .74 miles from the city center when in fact it is 7.4 miles. Cost us $40 extra dollars that we were not planning on spending.

Breakfast

Posted Oct 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
As far as Italian breakfasts go it is good to get quite a good spread but getting coffee from a machine that clearly is not capable of making quality coffee and the lack of fresh fruit is disappionting. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay. Staff are very friendly. This is my second visit. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to a friend

Excellent hotel,lovely views.

Cons: We would book again tomorrow 100%, if the hotel rooms had some sort of fridge in them.
Location: Great location far enough out of town to escape it all, wich wasnt a problem as they have an excellent shuttle bus service.
Very good overall experience, excellent shuttle bus to and from town with great views across the bay of naples.

Great location and views

Posted Sep 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel was very nice and staff very helpful and friendly. The curticy shuttle bus into the town was very regular. Walking is not an option. The downside is the beds - they were too hard to sleep comfortably. Sorrento itself was a little disappointing - over crowded and too much traffic. The standard of food was merely satisfactory. Lake Garda or Lake Como would be my preferred location another time.

Reasonable value for the money

Made use of the free minibus down to the town - too far to walk. Considering the cost of some of the more central hotels this is fairly priced. Clean. Nice view. Restaurant is average. Hotel get a thumbs up overall.

Amazing views from our hotel balcony over Sorrento. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The shuttle bus service was excellent and a great way to get up and down to Sorrento. The breakfast was passable but no fresh fruit :-(
