Gorgeous view

Posted Oct 18, 2014
The hotel has probably one of the best views on the Sorrento coast. Just be careful with leaving snacks in the room. We were infested with ants by day 2!! Also, the spa isn't really a spa so count that out. The food is amazing and the service was outstanding. Overall an amazing experience.

Wow

Posted Oct 3, 2014
Pros: The setting, the gardens and views are spectular and the romm bright and airy.
Cons: Later shuttle pick up. The taxi cost was close to E20, each way.
Location: Scenic and not near anthing.
The botanical garden setting on the grounds were breathtaking. The breakfast buffet was delightful and the views spectacular. The pool was very inviting and so was the beach. The room was large, bright and clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. It was a relatively long walk to the city center and taxis were very expensive; the free shuttle service, offered by the hotel, last run was 7 pm, too late to have dinner and return by shuttle. Overall I was very pleased.

Beautiful hotel in brilliant location.

Pros: See above.
Cons: Sound-proofing for the bedrooms. It would be helpful if the hotel helped arranged excursions and sold postage stamps.
Location: Sorrento well worth visiting. We enjoyed excursions to Amalfi coast, Pompei/Vesusius and Capri.
We had a wonderful 10-day stay in mid-September. Very good facilities (although neither the swimming pool nor the beach would be ideal for small children); excellent food; very friendly and helpful staff; and a wonderful cliff-top position overlooking the Bay of Naples.

OK but not 5 star. Expensive for what it was.

Pros: The views and beach facilities.
Cons: This hotel has the feeling of one thinks it does not need to try hard. It is an OK 4 star, definitely not a 5 star hotel.
Location: It is at the edge of Sorrento and is a 15 minute walk into town. La Tavola di Lucullo is is an excellent restaurant about half way to town.
The views from the terrace, beach facilities and grounds are excellent. The room was disappointing having a shower but no bath. The room was located near the service lift; it was noisy early in the morning. The breakfast menu was repetitive and limited. The head waiter at breakfast was too loud and stood hands on hips blocking access in the door to the terrace. There was one expensive restaurant in the evening. It needed a second restaurant offering medium priced quality food. There was a free minibus into town every half hour during the day but it did not run in the evening. There was only one member of staff in the bar in the evening and he was expected to clear tables as well. The reception staff were friendly and efficient. The concierge was unimaginitve and missed opportunities. We were able to book a minibus to the port but then left to our own devices to visit Capri. This was an OK but expensive hotel, not what I expect from a 5 star hotel. A fresh manager with the authority to make changes could easily turn this into a really good hotel.

Amazing Gio Ponti Designed Mid-Century Hotel

Posted Jun 28, 2014 on Hotels.com
We loved the architecture, designed by Gio Ponti in the early sixties and the grounds and location were gorgeous. True mid-century design enthusiasts and preservationists will love it here!
