great location and friendly, helpful staff

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: very friendly, helpful staff, good location and peaceful location.
Location: we travelled down the Amalfi coast by boat, spent a day on Capri and visited Pompeii, Herculaneum and Mount Vesuvius.
We really loved Residenza La Neffola. The site has a lovely relaxed feel to it with pleasant gardens and a very nice pool and restaurant.. The room was a very good size with an roof terrace. it was well located to walk into the centre of Sorrento and to walk down the steps form the campsite to a pretty harbour and small beach where there are a number of nice restaurants.

Basic accommodation, great location, nice staff

Pros - Great location just a short walk from the main streets of Sorrento. Lovely pool but see note below. The staff are friendly and the place is beautiful. It feels like an authentic Italian experience in this place. Sounds too good to be true, but you really are close to the heart of Sorrento yet in a quiet residential area - best of both worlds. Cons - On arrival in early May the pool was not yet open which I was disappointed with, but after a couple of days it was open - hurray. Just be careful not to book for the pool if you're staying before mid-May. Accommodation is basic but Sorrento is expensive, so consider this a "budget" place to stay. The rooms aren't fancy - shower is a trickle of water, and there is a funny smell in the building but I would return for the tranquillity and convenience.

What reviews did not explain is that it's a campground with some cabins, tents, RVs and a building with musty smelling aparrments. Our room smelled like the septic system was broken and as if it had not been occupied in a very long time. No basics like soap or shampoo. We should have left. Our room was not serviced once in three days. The location was actually directly above the waste treatment plant, if you can overlook that is was a quick walk to both in town and the old fishing village. Overall bad.

Sorrento escape

Great location - only a few minutes walk to town, but yet just far enough outside to be quiet & tranquil. Beautiful gardens. Staff multiligual and very helpful and friendly - got alot of helpful info about prices, transportation options and places to see. Room perfect for our needs - plenty of room w/ small fridge & stove. Very quiet and private. Everything was great - could not ask for more.
