Great B&B with a view on Bay of Naples

Posted Dec 5, 2013
Pros: Pretty well everything - Pasquale, the breakfasts and the very comfortable room
Cons: Helpful hint: When returning to downtown Naples by train get off at Napoli Garibaldi. There is a tunnel connection to the Trenitalia trains.
Location: From Sorrento we visited Capri, toured the Amalfi coast by city bus and stopped off at Ravello, Amalfi, Positano and visited Pompeii.
Pasquale was a wonderful host. From the time he picked us up at the train station to dropping us off there at the end of our 4 day visit at Sorrento our stay at the Villa Monica was truly great. The B&B is up a hill, about a 5 minute drive from Sorrento which is exhilarating in itself and Pasquale drove us in and picked us up every time. The room and bathroom was excellent - the bed was comfy, it was all very clean and there is a beautiful balcony view from our room of Mt Vesuvius and of the Bay. The bathroom was clean, shower - lots of hot water, hairdryer and great towels. The breakfasts were fantastic - cereal, coffee/tea, boiled eggs, salami, cheese, yogurt, milk, juice and a great selection of breads and cakes. A great way to start the day.

Great B&B, with an awesome view!

Posted May 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was our first stop in Italy, we book 2 nights, then decided to stay another 2. Pasquale was awesome, very helpful, plus he would drive us in town and pick us up, free of charge. He made sure we had all we needed, even give us a bottle of wine on our first night...we didn't got time to get one. Free breakfast. The rooms are not too big, but for us, we spend all our time on our patio. The view was magnificent, very quiet. Would definitely return!!

Ideal accommodation for couples

Posted Nov 1, 2012
Pros: Attention to detail and care of the owner
Cons: nothing
Location: Up in the hills a couple of kilometres up in the hills above Sorrento.
Villa Monica is a little way out of Sorrento, which was what appealed to us, and Pasquale, the owner, runs a regular pick-up service from Sorrento Town and so you are never stranded. The views are stunning over the Bay of Naples and the room is very pleasing with air-conditioning unit and heater. The breakfast and hospitality are good with generous extras. We would use Villa Monica again if we returned to Sorrento. It is a peaceful haven.

Off the beaten track but good stay

Posted Oct 8, 2012
Pros: The owner, Pasquale, is a great guy. Funny and helpful. Excellent txi service to/from the town.
Cons: Tiny bathroom & shower.
Location: Remote and very difficult to find but great views.
Difficult to find on your own. Best call the owner in advance and he will come and direct you from Sorrento. Way up the hill but great views from the terrace. Clean and tidy but we had a very small bathroom. Breakfast disappointing (dry cake and no fresh bread). Owner runs a free taxi service to/from Sorrento - a great help. Recommended a couple of good restaurants too. Not much to see in Sorrento but plenty of shopping.

Very Relaxing with Beautiful Views!

We were hesitant to stay so far from the center of town but I'm so glad we didn't let this deter us. The Owner, Pasquale, shuttles his guests to and from town and will make extra trips when requested. And the views are amazing! Pasquale also has great recommendations on tours, restaurants, activities - he was like our own personal tour guide. We loved our stay at Villa Monica!!

What a host

Villa Monica is Something else. It is set up in the hills with stunning views over Sorrento and the valley. In the summer it is also a little cooler than down in the town. What sets this place apart is Pasquale. His attention to detail, local knowledge is what makes the difference. Listen to Pasquale as he can tell you where to go where to eat etc all without bias. He runs a free shuttle service at set times through the day to take you and pick you up from town. Without this excellent service the place would not be so successful. Look at the reviews on trip advisor he's not near the top without reason. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Villa Monica

Don't stay anywhere else in Sorrento!

Posted Jun 22, 2012
Pros: Wonderful views, home from home, Pasquale's funny stories & humour
Cons: Leaving to go home
Location: Brilliant location because of the views. At first it seems too far away from Sorrento centre but does not matter as Pasquale runs you around all day.
We had a fantastic holiday at Villa Monica. The views of the bay and surrounding mountains from the bedroom and terrace are amazing. Our room was very well equipped with everything we expected and more. Everyone staying there can use the kitchen and help themselves to drinks (both alcoholic & non-alcoholic) and snacks (including some wonderful pastries). The breakfast is superb and we really enjoyed the croissants. Pasquale, our host, makes the best cappuccino in Italy (and he will tell you so!). Pasquale runs you to Sorrento or restaurants and back as many times as you want and nothing is too much trouble. I suffered from sciatica in my leg and couldn't walk very far without sitting down so Pasquale went out of his way to take us closer to where we wanted to go. It was one of funniest and most relaxing holidays we have ever had and would not hesitate to go back again or recommend to others.

Little gem

Posted Jun 7, 2012 on Hotels.com
This was a fab little B&B - like being in your own home. Pasquale was fantastic and although the hotel was 4km away, we were taken to and from Sorrento as and when needed. We were also given lots of guidance on what to do and where to eat including the local restaurants. Views were out of the world from the room and it was really cosy.

Pour les connaisseurs

Posted May 8, 2012 on Hotels.com
Villa Monica is a beautiful place in Sorrento - it is better to say, above Sorrento. The Villa is placed near the top of a hill above town, and the view is litterally breathtaking. Moreover, the place itself is surely above the upper average B & B - Villa Monica is a place pour les connaisseurs! Why am I saying this? Because it is a built-by-the-book italian house, a real villa, which you will very much enjoy if you decide to stay there. The rooms are relatively small, but you won't feel that at all, since they are beautiful and very inspired decorated. Also, the quite tiny bathroom - if you have over 100 kg, think again - is so beautiful, it is a small juwel. Every room has view on Sorrento, the sea and the surrounding mountains, and it's own terrace, which is quite big. Pasquale, the hotel owner, is a friendly guy, he drives you down to and from town at fixed hours, quite often. He is intelligent and can give you a lot of tips about the surrounding, has a refreshing sense of humour (spiced up with some witty irony). We enjoyed staying there and would have stayed more if the room were free for more nights. Of course, all this has a cost, which is not low - at least not for an east-european budget! - but you won't regret any cent of the 10 - 20 euros per night which you spend more. Sorrento itself is very nice and worth a day of walking around, but from there you can go to Amalfi, Positano, Pompei, even Neapoli, and to Capri, which is very close.
