“Just as great a stay as the more expensive places”

Spent 2 nights in Elkhart. First night, we stayed at the Hampton and it was excellent. After travelling, we stopped again for the night in Elkhart and booked at Quality. While not as uppity trendy looking, we had just as nice a stay and just as nice of a breakfast and it cost $40 less!! Only problem was the pool was closed, but we were allowed to go to their sister hotel Hilton across the street and swim there. Staff was fantastic, nice clean room, yummy breakfast. Quiet, clean, comfortable, and close to the Interstate. I am originally from the Elkhart area, we visit here frequently, and I must say I am VERY pleased with the Quality Inn over others I've stayed at in the similar price range.

“Functional, But Rough Around The Edges”

This hotel's main selling points are price and proximity. It's a good value and it's very easily accessible from the Indiana Toll Road. The room was clean and comfortable and the complimentary breakfast was more than adequate. On the downside, the hotel looks like it was built in a hurry with little attention to detail. And during my stay the vending machines and the guest laundry were out of service.

“Needs some improvement”

The staff was wonderful but the shifting of rooms and cards not working really didnt start out right with me. The pool water looked green could not see the bottom my kids had diving sticks and they could not find it, ran out of towels and the pool area smelled like wet dog.

“kind of dingy.”

If you are desperate for a place to sleep, this is it. It was cheap, but not a very nice place. The people at the front desk were nice and tried to get us a clean room when the one they assigned us was not taken care of by housekeeping from the previous guest. They did reduce our payment when the only cleaned up room they could get us was not what we had reserved.

“Would not go back.”

The heater was broken on the pool. Made it difficult for my 6 year old to swim, the one thing she was looking forward to when we checked in to the hotel. Took 10 minutes for the hot water to come on in the shower. Not sure why. Hotel was perhaps 1/4 full. Description on the web-site said that the rooms had jetted tubs. Did not. And neither of the jacuzzi suites was available. Was just very disappointed with the hotel.

“Needs updating”

My mom was traveling cross country and had excellent experiences with the other Quality Inn motels she stayed at. This one however was obviously old and more than a little dilapidated; wallpaper was coming lose and the swimming pool was dirty. The night clerk also didn't know how to handle the Expedia pre-pay feature although the clerk as they checked out did.

“water temperature issues”

shower was luke warm 2 out of 5 days. When I told front desk, the response was that the hotel was full....

“Not standard condition for Quality Inn accomodations”

My initial impression was that the hotel was rundown. The parking lot was over grown with weeds and not clear of litter. Check-in went OK. THe room was what I would expect at Quality Inn. Then, I discovered the sink was clogged and certainly had been for some time. The next day I brought this to the attention of the desk clerk and the problem was taken care of when I returned that night. Next, I noticed there were small flys buzing around the room (about the size of a fruit fly). I did not address this issue with the desk. My room was next to the pool. The second night, at 10:15 (the pool was to be closed at 10:00) I had to get dressed and go into the pool area to tell the family there to quiet down. They were yelling so loud I could hear it through 2 walls and a hallway. This was the worst experience I have had a Quality Inn.

“Good Value Hotel......until check out time”

Overall, the rooms were well kept and clean. The beds were comfortable, and the price was fair for the amenities provided. The parking lot and outside of the hotel could be a bit better maintained and lit at night. Checkout was a nightmare. Typically, one advantage of an Expedia booking is easy check-in/check out, since the rooms are already paid for. Check in was normal - no issues. Check out took almost 40 minutes, and I would probably still be there if I hadn't offered to pay - AGAIN - for one of the two rooms already paid through Expedia. Both Desk Clerks were new, so I do not fault either of them. They were trying to deal with a situation that was obviously not within their capabilities, and they had no one to turn to for assistance, People who were checking out prior to me also had a rough experience, too, before I was up to bat. Expedia did compensate me for my troubles, but when you have a 10 hour drive ahead of you, an extended checkout is not welcome. I would not stay at this hotel in the future if I could avoid it - and I can.
