My husband and I took our 2 children to Rancho Banderas for one week. Loved it! We chose the all-inclusive option, which for me, was priceless. No cooking for an entire week! The staff was extremely accommodating and treated our children wonderfully (big plus as a mom). Really liked that it is a smaller resort and, therefore, we got to know the other guests and even made some life-long friends. Alberto.....we miss you! Mary.....you have the hands of an angel (best massage EVER). We hope to be back soon.

This hotel looks right out on a great surf break that is perfect for beginner/intermediate surfing and SUP. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with all kinds of recommendations and the room/view was amazing! Quaint little town with great restaurants but if you want night life this is not the spot.

This is our second time to stay at Starbay. We love it! We have a 1 year old and a 3 year old and it was great for them too. The place has a nice pool and the views are incredible if you are on the second or third floors. Our room was big and the housekeeping each day did a great job keeping the place clean. We were grateful for the AC in both rooms as the weather in July is very warm. I highly recommend this hotel!

All the raves by other viewers were not exaggerated. We would go back in a heartbeat.
We were there from Dec 7 - 14, 2014 and it was a great week. It was before high season so it was not overly busy except on the weekend when Mexicans came from Tepic and Guadalajara. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurants were closed so went to the snack bar and had cold hot dogs and burgers and at night were disappointed at the Mexican and Spanish restaurants.
But then we discovered LA BAMBA which is the a la carte restaurant which has buffet breakfast and lunch and menu dinner. We ate there the rest of the week and really pigged out. Breakfast was eggs to order how you wanted them as well as a wide variety of fruits, yogurts, juices etc. Lunch we found surprising for Mexico, apart from usual buffett soup, salads and so on the first day there was Roast Turkey, the next day Roast Pork, then beef, ribs and Friday fish..
The a la carte was delicious, big tender steaks (where else in Mexico can you find a tender steak?) Big thick portions of Mahi Mahi (Dorado) and would you believe it big tender, ,juicy tasty pork chops. The staff in La Bamba were all friendly and looked after us well.
We stayed in Building # 4 which is close to reception and La Bamba. The superior room we had was spacious and relatively quiet. There are many stairs there but it helped to work off the ecxess food. Really enjoyed the show and the chance to interact with the performers in the day

There were families, like mine, and single people and couples. Everyone was having a great time. Plenty of things to do. There was a group of people from the hotel in charge of activities. From beach volleyball, dance lessons, pool games, always something great to do. You never had to wait for drinks, they saw your hand empty and they filled it. Security was always present and helpful if you needed it. They had piñatas, soccer games, something every hour, ending with karaoke, dances, and clubs at night, all at the resort! They brought in vendors for you to buy things, great prices. No need to go anywhere. Food for everyone, all the time. They supply bottles of water. I can't think of anything bad to say, except,....don't to the city tour. I thought it would be good to go off the resort, but I regretted it the whole time. They take you to places the tour people arrange with their friends for you to buy things from. Everyone on the tour hoped to go to some shops, nooo, they took us to high end shops no one wanted to buy from and ended in a tequila "factory" which was someone's house, and forced us to eat there, because we were all starving. The food was awful and overpriced. But, we had no other choice, they wouldn't leave until we ate. The tour was suppose to be done by 2pm. We finally got back to the hotel at 6pm. No one was happy.
