OK. No major problems.Posted Dec 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
Clean room, well maintained. Nice and warm. Double bed was a bit small. Slight sewer smell when returning to the room if the window had been kept closed. Breakfast was ok - all the usual hot buffet items but not the best quality.

poor restaurant/hot roomsPosted Nov 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel looks fantastic. Unfortunately the restaurant service and quality of food was extremely poor. In addition there were issues with the heating which meant I had to sleep with the bedroom windows open....in November

Great locationPosted Nov 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is beautiful, and the rooms very well presented. We had a problem with our central heating which would not switch off/turn down (this was obviously a malfunction on this occasion), so had a very uncomfortable night. The hotel was very busy with a wedding and two other large functions, so breakfast was a bit chaotic, however, the staff were extremely helpful, polite, and it did not spoil our stay. I would definitely stay there again, and would recommend it to others.

Pros: The breakfast potentially is good. The grounds are beautiful and the golf course a decent challenge,
Cons: As above. And the prices for bar food are very high, especially as you could drive 5 minutes to a local pub and get something just as good for less
I have stayed at the Selsdon Park many times over the years and am still baffled how such a potentially great hotel on beautiful grounds can continue to underachieve. 1. The 2 lifts were not working for the entire stay. 2. The single bed against a wall would probably be comfortable for a child..... 3. Why is there still heat blasting out from heaters in the corridors that make the rooms unbearably hot (at least for once the heat in the room was off, although opening a window is still a challenge). 4. The breakfast buffet is good, but on quieter days, having sausages, bacon and stale fried eggs sitting in congealed fat is most unappetising. Simple things that would make a big difference if corrected. But for some reason they never do....

Long corridorsPosted Nov 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was a warm hotel rather like a stately home. Fantastic features included a glorious sitting hallway area ( not the foyer) and very warm rooms. Drawbacks included extremely long corridors and staircases to rooms. It's rather like a maze! Took ages to get to room and when electronic key did not work, I had to retrace steps to get card recharged. Thus happened twice! Request a room close to the reception desk!! Breakfast was an excellent buffet with huge selection of foods. Individual teas and coffees not available at tables, waitresses bought it to the table, a disadvantage if you like strong tea as all was served from a thermos jug. Staff generally very helpful and courteous. Free wifi in rooms and shuttle service (free) to east croydon station on weekdays ( early mornings and between 5 and 7 pm-ish). I did not play golf so I cannot comment on that aspect if the hotel.

very good hotel for a reasonable pricePosted Nov 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
Very good hotel, very grand on arrival. The bar is expensive as is the food but only to be expected from such a large and exclusive looking hotel. The gym is quite small but has all you need and didn't seem too busy, the pool is good but not suited for the serious lane swimmer. The Jacuzzi unfortunately wasn't working during our stay. Comfortable beds and all in all a very comfortable stay.
