Pros: The breakfast potentially is good. The grounds are beautiful and the golf course a decent challenge,
Cons: As above. And the prices for bar food are very high, especially as you could drive 5 minutes to a local pub and get something just as good for less
I have stayed at the Selsdon Park many times over the years and am still baffled how such a potentially great hotel on beautiful grounds can continue to underachieve. 1. The 2 lifts were not working for the entire stay. 2. The single bed against a wall would probably be comfortable for a child..... 3. Why is there still heat blasting out from heaters in the corridors that make the rooms unbearably hot (at least for once the heat in the room was off, although opening a window is still a challenge). 4. The breakfast buffet is good, but on quieter days, having sausages, bacon and stale fried eggs sitting in congealed fat is most unappetising. Simple things that would make a big difference if corrected. But for some reason they never do....

One of the worst hotelsPosted Nov 2, 2013
The hotel staff was not very friendly and in fact a bit rude when I asked her to double check if breakfast was included. My room had terrible kitchen smell. It was in an extension of an extension. Room was very cold, noise all night from doors banging. Generally an awful night stay. Hotel rooms need a refit, some travel lodges I have stayed in on motorways are quieter and in much better condition.

Pros: We really enjoy the older feel to the hotel. This hotel is extremely old and they have continue to keep the original aspect to it.
Cons: More shuttle to the nearest station and airport pickup would also be nice.
Location: The East Croydon station is a short bus ride away. Local pub is near by as well.
We stayed here on our honeymoon. It was nice to be somewhere without all the noise.

Not 4-starPosted Aug 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
Very disappointed; small dated-looking room with a lack of 4-star facilities. Breakfast shambolic, akin to a school canteen, with queues, than the dining room of a 4-star hotel. Rules around being able to use bar "after hours" are not adequately explained on check-in; subsequently almost double-charged for drinks. Good location and lovely-looking hotel/grounds....shame about the interior!

Solid Hotel but really not 4/5Posted Aug 19, 2013
Pros: Lovely grounds and nice layout in lobby and most common areas.
Cons: Thin walls and generally shoddy quality fixtures and fittings in the standard rooms.
It wasn't terrible but the standard the establishment claims compared to the quality of service received make it a pretty poor value choice. Thin walls making for loud rooms and disappointing quality food. If this was a 3 star it would have gotten higher ratings but if you're expecting a better overall standard of hotel than a typical Premier Inn I wouldn't recommend.

Great service and lovely characterPosted Aug 15, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great old building we wasnt there for any event at the hotel so was placed well away from the weekends wedding/event guests in a lovely room in one of the towers. Bar and health centre where used we where the only ones in there friday night and where both great. one thing i would say is that there are a lot of stairs so if going to stay and can't do stairs then request a room on one of the level floors which you can use the lift for. Room was comfortable and clean, I would stay there again for the rate which we paid.

grand building in beautiful groundsPosted Aug 5, 2013
Generally a very nice stay in a grand building in beautiful grounds. The view from our room overlooked the golf course with trees beyond and no notion of being in Croydon's outer suburbs. Minor shortcomings were a slightly unattractive bar area and food and drinks were pricey.
