“Less than memorable”

Room was in poor condition. The tiles around the hot tub were cracked and falling apart. The ceiling had extensive water stains, and the carpeting was stained and dirty looking. The room didn't even have a fridge or microwave. Not worth the money. Staff was friendly though.

“Nice place to stay”

We found the hotel nice and comfortable. Families with children were able to use the swimming pool. The hotel staff were helpful and polite. Our room was clean and comfortable. . We found the breakfast to be a nice variety of foods. There is and exercise room. We will stay there again.

Area recommendations

South Haven has neat small shops. The beach is large with white sand. There are museums and art galleries in the area.

When to go

Fall the leaf color is spectacular.

Must see

The light house in South Haven. The Museums. The Art Galleries.

Shopping

Lots of great shops and even thrift shops if one is interested. Quilt shop in South Haven is a must for quilters.

Outdoors or beach

Beaches are wonderful. Better in summer than the fall. Some beaches facilities closed during our fall visit.

“Very satisfied”

I was surprised that the hotel was actually very good, because some reviews had been negative. But the staff was friendly and when their help was needed were quick to provide it. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable.

“Great brekfast”

Clean place!! Outstanding breakfast. Had an issue with air conditioning and it was fixed quickly. High ceilings, nice people. Thanks !

“Missing some cleanliness”

Overall it was a decent hotel with a good location. The only thing that disturbed me was the cleanliness of our bathroom. The bathroom counter was obviously not cleaned from the previous guests and the bathtub could have used an extra scrub down as well. The bed was comfortable and the continental breakfast convenient. I would stay here again only next time I will call the front desk to have them come clean the bathroom again as well as provide more than one towel.

“Wonderful service”

My husband and I went to South Haven for a short getaway. Immediately we were greeted by the desk clerk who had a smile on her face. We were quickly given our key to our King/Jacuzzi Room. The room was extremely clean and had a nice size mini-fridge, a microwave and coffee maker. The beds were SO comfortable and the pillows were as well. The carpets looked old and could stand to be replaced, but that was the least of my worries because everything else was so wonderful. They served a hot breakfast in the morning and the woman preparing the food never let any tray get close to being empty. There was eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, yogourt, the list goes on. What a wonderful time we had and it was perfect for our little getaway. 5 minutes from downtown and right off the expressway.

“will be going back in the future and many other times as well”

the best service ever got a free upgrade to the presidential suite and was the most comfortable bed every the hotel staff was awesome and very freindly the breakfast is the best by far i think. even the coffee in the room was far better than most hotel coffee we loved our stay and will be going back in the future and many other times just hope all holiday inn expres' are like this....

the best part about the town was going down to the pier and watching the sunset over the lake most beautiful thing in the world loved it and the town is so cool.

for some reason our gps kept sending us the wrong way and everything is all in one area so once you find it its not to bad

“Good Value”

hotel was clean, close to all of downtown South Haven and close to the freeway. the only down side, was the pool like everyone else said, not warm enough. however once you got in it for a minutes, you were good to go. Would stay again. Definitely before labor day weekend, we went after labor day and most of the town was basically shut down. we were able to see it all basically the first day. nice clean beaches, beautiful small town.

Definitely would recommend Clementines, great food, great prices, very nice restaurant.

“Hotel needs updating !”

Our family has been to several Holiday Inn Express & Suites. This hotel is in desperate need of updating. Actual hotel rooms are fine & clean. However, public areas of the hotel and pool are in bad, bad shape. Hotel personnel were wonderful and made up for what could have been a horrible stay. Personnel are also very overworked. I think I saw frontdesk personnel cleaning the pool area and helping out with housekeeping...pretty much cross coverage for all jobs.

Area recommendations

Hotel is a quick ride to town and not terribly far from St Joe's and Saugutuck.
