Great location. Hardly any hot water.

Posted Mar 9, 2015
Pros: Location was great.
Cons: Hardly any hot water, and lots of wear + tear.
Location is great for conference visitors, but the shower often produced water no hotter than luke warm. An older building, and definitely showing some wear.

Staff was courteous, genuinely helpful and pleasant. I didn't have a couple of small items for shaving and toothpaste and they provided me with them. Facilities were clean but overall structure seemed a bit old. (Not sure if this was a stylistic choice) Internet was just about non-existent so I had a hard time getting any work done in the hotel.

Too Noisy To Sleep

Posted Mar 7, 2015
Pros: Very old hotel nicely updated. Well kept foyer and halls. Morning coffee at the restaurant was overpriced.
Cons: A lot of improvements have been made.
Location: Great location! Near shopping, restaurants, Union Square, China Town and really excellent public transit.
Our first room was on the front side and could not sleep for the noise. The room was very tiny also. The second room was on the back and much quieter and larger and nicer but pluming noises and loading dock will get you early around five or six.

Nice hotel close to Union Square

Posted Feb 22, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Finish the repairs and painting in the hallway. The bathroom faucet fixtures were also coming apart.
Location: Close to the Westfield shopping center. The cable cars are near and fun to ride. The cable car museum is not too far is free and worth a visit.
We spent only one night in hotel. The hotel location is very good. It's close to the Powell street cable car and Westfield shopping center. Union square is also not far. The staff were pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable, but a bit small and the bathroom was also small. We got the room at about a 30% discount and it was worth it, but I don't think it's worth it's full price.

Old Hotel but Great Location

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: The staff and location
Cons: The interior of the hotel needs a complete renovation and some areas around the hotel harbored panhandlers and people sleeping on the sidewalks nearby
Location: Westfield Center for shopping, several great restaurants in the area
We had a flight cancellation and had to find a room in town with short notice. We were able to get a room booked at the Pickwick that day but when we got in to the room we quickly noted that the room/hotel was very old and badly in need of renovations and updates to available amenities. The bathroom was extremely small with a bathtub in the corner with the coating in the bottom peeled off and the room was roughly painted with the original windows being covered with new ones but that were not sealed or installed properly. On the other side, the staff was very nice and the location was close to the Westfield Center and other great spots in the surrounding area. This hotel needs a lot of TLC before I could even begin to consider referring it to friends, family or returning again for another stay.

I enjoyed the room, but as soon as you walked out the hotel door it was just not nice.

Centrally located not luxury but nice!

Posted Feb 2, 2015
Pros: Staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: Insulations between rooms/shared doors. Larger bathrooms.
Location: Your in the heart of downtown San Francisco the sky is the limit!
Staff was accommodating, room was clean. Definitely a historic hotel. Street noise to be expected staying on 5th and mission. Adjacent room noise can be heard through the antique wood doors connecting rooms. Bed comfortable, bathroom small but adequate. Overall nice experience.
