Two-night stay to visit daughter
Posted Jan 17, 2013
Pros: very good price for being close to downtown Portland.
Cons: cleanliness, amenities, front desk service
Location: Wonderful restaurants and shops in downtown Portland, just 10 min away. Close to many outdoor attractions (Audabon Ctr.,Mackworth Is.)
The location was very close to Portland where my daughter lives. I stayed in a Super 8 before and it was fine. My room had a dirty tooilet, no kleenex, and a coffee maker on a stained tray, but no coffee. The young man who checked me in told me there was no coffee in the room, but he never told me there was a buffet breakfast downstairs. The outer door to parking lot did not lock. My room was not cleaned for my 2nd night. They only pulled up the bedspread.

Unhappy will not stay here again

Pros: Location
I made a reservation and paid for a King size bed when I received a call about plumbing problems in our reserved room and they were was going to give us a queen bed until plumbing was fixed. Then the room had had a leak mark in ceiling and bathroom need work also. There was black around windows. The frame on bed stuck out and I didn't see it and hit my leg on it. I didn't see it because there was a skirt on bottom of bed covering it. Also they had coffee pots in room and no coffee for them. Had to ask for a bath mat and toilet paper housekeeping didn't make sure room had all essentials needed. Spoke with staff but they didn't seem to bother them.

"Super" Bad.

Didn't expect much from the ratings anyway, but needed a place on a busy weekend. We signed a paper saying we wouldn't smoke (non-smokers anyway), but it was CLEAR someone had before us. Had to re-shower once home to get the smell out of my hair. Window's didn't open to air out room. Crumpled sign at the front desk said "sold out," so moving rooms wasn't an option. We wiped down the mirrors ourselves in order to see. Stains on the carpet, walls, lamp shades. No clock, coffee or ice bag in the room (asked for coffee, never received any). Shower curtain rod hanging by a screw, so broken the shower curtain wouldn't close. Sign out front said "Under New Management" can only hope changes will be made.

Great staff, horrible hotel
Posted Jan 21, 2013
Pros: staff
Cons: everything else
Though the sign on the door said 'Non-smoking room' the room had a heavy sticky smokey smell. Wi-Fi was not working. People downstairs were complaining that they never got their room cleaned, towels changed and in-room-phone fixed. The greatest thing about ths hotel was the receptionist who helped us cancel our stay and let us use their phone to get everything resolved with the expedia. Thank you Rebecca

Pros: I loved the staff
Cons: Pricing
Location: Next door to a breakfast/lunch diner. Not close to anything touresty. About 20 min from the airport.
I had a very nice stay in the South Portland Maine hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My only concern was pricing. Very expensive for a hotel during the off season.

Don't go there!
Posted Jan 22, 2013
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: Staff, room, breakfast...everything!
The room was incredibly dirty, there was dog hair everywere. There were also no towels in the room when we arrived, we had to ask many times for it and when they gave us one it was dirty, in the end we had to wait for two hours for the towels to be ready because they had no clean towels. Moreover, the breakfast was ridiculous, very bad coffee and orange juice and only bananas and yogurt, it doesn't seem like a continental breakfast for me!

Toilet didnt work - Would not recommend!!!!
Posted Jan 13, 2013
Pros: Absolutely Nothing!
Cons: Toilet didnt work No proper bedding Smell
I spent 10 hours in this hotel because of the weather and will never go back! The smell of air freshners from the lobby all the way to the room was almost to much to handle; the room had water spots and faded artwork;there was no bottom fitted sheet on the bed and the pillows were feather!!!! The water took forever to get warm but the absolute worst was the toilet didnt work!!I would not recommend this hotel to anyone spend a little extra for a better room.

Cheap priced property

I guess you get what you pay for is the old adage that comes to mind. This hotel has been under new management for 3 months and frankly, I'm not sure what has been done, or what will be done. There is no internet service. The gym is not operable, and the breakfast was very skimpy. We literally cleaned our room before getting in to bed. We agreed that if the new management is serious about getting this hotel back to a better establishment, they would have to strip and do a complete reno one room at a time. We'd be hard pressed to give this property a '1'rating.
