Very disappointed
Hotel room was nothing like what was advertised, room was dusty and very small, and soon as we boiled the kettle it set the fire alarm off.

I’m not a fan of key box entry and this has definitely confirmed I won’t use them again. On hotels.com the property is advertised as having “free parking”. This is misleading as parking is not on the premises, its on street parking and spaces are few and far between in a busy residential/restaurant area. I managed to park one street over. On collection of the keys, I made my way to room 14, entrance outside of the building. The room was freezing and the radiator stone cold. As instructed, I rang the landline number to be told by an operator in a remote location that someone would be down to fix it. 45 minutes later I had to ring again as the problem had not been sorted. I asked for a phone call to give me a definite time of the engineer arrival. I got a text. 20 minutes later an engineer arrived, blamed the cleaner for “turning it off”? and sorted it, fixing a leaking radiator as well. As the heating had been off for some time, the room took a while to heat up. The following morning, same scenario, heating off. I called the landline and got an automated response saying no one was available and to leave a message. I did and was not contacted so I rang the emergency number and got voicemail. I left a message but after 20 minutes as again no one got back to me, I rang again, and again, and got voicemail each time. It was now an hour after my first call so I went out to the front of the house and found a cleaner who apparently had been told of the problem but did not know how to

Nice Stay
Lovely stay, however finding our room was difficult we actually found out it was through a door on the side of the building which we would have not known about if we weren’t told by the cleaner there. Water from the shower didn’t get very hot, other than that nice play to stay and very clean.

If you want a flop house with a bathroom by the front door so that you have no privacy; if you want a toilet that doesn't flush; if you want a B&B without the breakfast; if you like to rock a DHSS vibe; if you like poorly decorated student rooms from the 1980s - then this is the place for you. It wasn't for me. For the same money you could go somewhere nice. I wish I had.

Perfect hotel
We stayed here for a uni visit and it was perfect. The family room was spacious with super comfy beds and lovely hot shower. It was only a 15 min walk to the beach and some lovely restaurants. We would definitely return.

As I am on crutches I asked for a ground floor room, they gave me one on the top floor. Then they offered me a room on the ground floor, with a separate bathroom or one down a steep set of stairs in the basement! I took one on the first floor but it was difficult getting up there. Then in that room there weren't any toiletries! Asked for some and was given a bottle, the pump of which did not work. The TV programme that we saw the hotel in advised they offered vouchers for breakfast up the road. We did not get any but got 10% discount!

Cheap for a budget
The room I have stayed before the tv wasn’t working for over a year and the foot prints on the carpet. The room smells like someone smoked in there. The staffs was nice.

Experia give the impression that this hotel has dedicated free parking. This is NOT the case. You have to take your chance to find a suitable roadside parking space amongst several areas of parking restrictions and resident parking permits only. None of this is the fault of the hotel.

The room was nice, a bit small but no issues with the cleanliness or amenities. Unfortunately the power went off in the morning which was an inconvenience, especially because we needed to iron our clothes for an important meeting. We stayed here for one night in room 14. The pre arrival communication was excellent and friendly with very good instructions about your stay. The service was really good as was the location for a 10 minute walk in to town. Room 14 is a very small double. It’s reasonably decorated but the bed is small. Unfortunately there is a very strong smell of damp which fills the room. The bathroom has no window and I don’t think the extractor fan is up to the job. That said, I would use the White House again but would request not to stay in room 14.

The self check-in is great, no issues. The overall condition and look of the place is nice. All was going so well until I opened the door and was smacked in the face with the smell of B.O. The odour in the room was like an unwashed armpit - one that has not been attended in a few days - I had to go out and buy air freshener and gave the whole place a spray then left the windows open for a couple of hours in order to lose the stench. This was a cold, rainy night in november and It was only when I attempted to turn up the heating that I realised the radiator was not controllable - seems that it's stuck on "defrost" so had to stay fully clothed with my jumper on. Such a shame as the room, though small as expected, was in good order. Tip for anyone staying here - DON'T get a roadside room as the locals are out partying all hours of the night/early morning! On a wednesday too! The other rooms may be lovely but I was not as comfy as I might have been due to the smell and the cold.

Convenient location
Very convenient for the Uplands area and not far from the city centre. The accommodation is okay, but nothing special. There is no reception so you have to use a code to get into the hotel yourself. Not a problem for us, but we had to help an older couple after midnight who couldn't get in and couldn't reach anyone on the phone for help.

Very clean and pleasant environment. The only thing that I should have known was that my room was on the 2nd floor and my aged mum had difficulty getting there. Had I known before, I wouldn't have booked it. And the water in the shower was getting blocked and not draining out. Did speak to the housekeeping team about it. Apart from that the service was great!

I booked this guest house based on the photos provided by the hotel themselves as when we checked in it really was not as described, there is no free parking it’s a case of you looking for street parking and hoping for the best, I looked at two family rooms and both need a complete revamp, the guesthouse is very old and dated inside the rooms, the main reception has been modernised but that’s it, there is no one at the guesthouse when you arrive, I contacted the number provided for around 40 minutes to speak to someone about the condition of the room, finally got through to someone but decided to stick with room 7 over room 4 as that was even worse than ours. I would not stay at this place again.

Feedback on Room 4 - extreme heat and lack of fan
It was an extremely hot day and the room really needed a fan as the curtains had been left open and the direct sunlight had made room very uncomfortable. We requested a fan but this was not available. This resulted in us having to purchase our own fan otherwise we would have not been able to sleep in room. I would have thought a fan would have been available as I am sure this is not the first time that room has been uncomfortable.
