Above average 3*Posted Jul 28, 2014
Stayed on our wedding anniversary, couldn't get in using key card, but reception gave us a new one until things sorted out. Room was very nice, clean plenty of storage but..... no aircon working and it was very hot. Bed really comfy! We asked for extra coffee etc and were given plenty. Had a meal in Reeds restaurant which was excellent, food, staff, venue were extremely good. Would definitely recommend it.

A lovely hotel conveniently close to the A1M.Posted Jun 15, 2014
Pros: Everything. Great breakfast.
Cons: Nothing needed improving
Location: Within 3-4 miles of the A1M. Easy drive. In countryside. Peaceful surroundings.
A lovely room. Much nicer decor than Premier Inns with a similar charge. Elegant dining room with superb menu. Free WiFi. Quiet location.

Trans Pennine Trail Stop-overPosted Jun 11, 2014
Pros: The staff and its close proximity to the Trans-Pennine Trail
Cons: Add a dog-friendly room or kennel facility.
Location: Two minutes from the Trans Pennine Trail
I picked this hotel for a stop-over as it is in close proximity to the Trans-Pennine Trail which I was cycling (Southport to Hornsea). Just before setting off on the trail plans changed and a friend of mine with a small dog came along too. The hotel didn't allow dogs but did allow my friend to camp in the grounds; they could not have been more accommodating throughout our short stay. The restaurant is closed on a Sunday but the adjoining pub did a great selection of food and at very reasonable prices. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel; first for the staff who were to a man outstanding, second for its location to the TPT and third because the facilities are excellent.

Night awayPosted Oct 1, 2012
Cons: No where to eat
Location: Outside mexborough nice view from patio area
The only reason this was not the perfect stay was because there was a cocktail night on on the night we stayed. Which was £5 for a buffet and some entertainment which would have been great but there were no tables available. As it was held in the dinning room this meant we could not have a meal in the hotel. I maybe should have looked at the hotel website but t never occurred to me. We had to try 2 places before we could find somewhere to eat. So that's why can't rate it 100/100

Peaceful nightPosted Jun 10, 2012
Pros: Food at the lodge
Cons: heating in June
Location: Location signpost from the Mexborough road and all motorways not far away
Excellent hotel with the food across at the lodge out of this world, service was very good and all staff friendly. Room abit warm but that was getting the air-con right not all units are the same.
