"Nice hotel close to the centre and harbour!!"
But I booked a executive room for 2adults and 2 child(14 and 4 years old/boy/girl) and asked with my booking to have 2 singles bed for them, when I arrived at the reception they said to me first able that the room is a sofa bed for both and she was very rude and said "you are French OK let do that in French for more facilities, like am stupid but am not from France but I leave her as seen very rude n stress. At the end she found a room for us but was unpleasant the she treat us.

"Staff wonderful, great location..."
We chose this hotel while coming to Southampton to visit my son at University. Close to the shopping centre for me and my daughter, also close to the football ground as my husband was taking him to a match..and walking distance of many restaurants on Oxford Street to eat at night. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, room was great and much bigger than expected, nice touch that colouring , drinks and snacks were left in the room for my daughter. Would recommend this hotel.

"The staff were amazing, extremely helpful."
The hotel is in a bit of a remote location and because it was half term there were loads of children around. On the whole they were very well behaved, but it's not really a hotel where I would expect to see so many children. The food in the restaurant was to die for. Absolutely fantastic.

"Quaint old coaching inn."
The hotel has been recently renovated to a high standard. It is a very quaint and quirky old coaching inn. Nice bar with open fire, good beers and a very friendly welcome. All the staff were extremely friendly, proficient and competent. The room a superior double had a four poster bed and was very comfortable, the magnificent bathroom was next to the bedroom and had a wonderful rainforest style shower and a roll top bath. The room was huge. The Inn offered a good evening menu and you are able to eat in the bar or the restaurant. The inclusive breakfast offers a small buffet with cereals, pastries and a small selection of fruit and juices. There is also a comprehensive cooked menu to follow offering a good selection. It's hard to find any major faults and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will return should I need a place to stay in the general vicinity in the future. My only slight niggle was with the central heating, the extremely competent radiators have no thermostatic controls, the only way to attempt temperature controls is via the large valve, my fruitless efforts were to no avail, in the end you simply have to resort to on or off. Well done The Crown Inn, I had a lovely 1 night stay whilst travelling on business.

"Charming quite retreat"
Checked in late (11pm) and checked out early (6am) so didn't get the chance to explore the hotel or eat in the restuarant. When I checked in it was very quite. There was one receptionist and two bar staff in the 24hr bar. The hotel from what I cld see at night looked grand and well kept. Inside was very 17th century as u wld expect. Parking on-site. My room was very clean and comfortable. Good wifi signal, TV channels and very warm. I had to turn the heating down. Some may say the decor is dated and I might agree with that but I also think that the rooms go with the rest of the hotel and character. For the price I paid I can't complain and I'm thinking of returning soon and this time check in early and take advantage of the hotel facilities. There was only one petrol station with mini supermarket near by.

"Great value hotel"
This hotel seems to be in the middle of nowhere - I don't think you could stay here without a car. That said, both times I've stayed here it has been pretty much full. The Holiday Inn Express offers basic but clean and comfortable accommodation at excellent value; you don't feel like you're paying for anything you don't want or need. If you don't need to be close to Southampton centre this is worth considering.
