Hotel nice , staff could been more helpful, nice rooms , few hairs found in bath n bed covers, n 2 beds pushed together , as a couple we expected a double bed , so not very comfy 2 singles pushed together, as I booked a double bed room , facilities not that great for hotel spa, no zacuzi , n kids in a steam room, kids aren't ment to be in a steam room, not as relaxing break as I hoped for s.stonebank

Room was very spacious when considering the price for a double was well under £100.
The only minor negative was noticed when I tried to call the reception on my way back to the hotel from function at approximately 23:00 hours. Although the hotel phone number did get me through to the automated switchboard, once I selected the extension I required, the phone line disconnected.
Aside from that one small issue it was a thoroughly enjoyable stay and highly recommended for future travellers.

Overall pretty good but there didn't seem to be enough staff - had to queue to check in (one person on reception) and queue to check out and sat amongst dirty tables that hadn't been cleared at breakfast. Long wait for room service too.

We arrived early but our room was already made up for us. Staff were welcoming and told us everything we needed to know.
We took the inclusive of breakfast option and were pleased we did; plenty of choice and very fresh.
Staff were polite and friendly.

We were stranded at Southampton airport and wanted a nice hotel as we were losing a night out of a short weekend abroad. Felt the hotel looked amazing but was good, just not as exceptional as the pictures showed. The golf course was great to walk around and the reception staff were helpful - the dining staff were OK and the pool etc had kids doing swimming lessons! So, not as 'spa"-like as we'd have liked! The entire experience as fine, just not as indulgent as we had hoped it would be. The burgers were good!

Hotel was clean but very busy. We had booked a 'family' room which was a normal room with the sofa as a bed. It was far too small for a family of 4. Luckily our daughter stayed with friends so wasn't so bad for 3.
On the second day of our visit the water was cold for the first shower, but was hot enough when the second person got in.
Breakfast was mayhem. Kept running out of cutlery and crockery. It was very messy and the food very basic. Glad we didn't eat in the evening. Breakfast was enough to cope with.

The hotel has been recently renovated to a high standard. It is a very quaint and quirky old coaching inn. Nice bar with open fire, good beers and a very friendly welcome. All the staff were extremely friendly, proficient and competent.
The room a superior double had a four poster bed and was very comfortable, the magnificent bathroom was next to the bedroom and had a wonderful rainforest style shower and a roll top bath. The room was huge.
The Inn offered a good evening menu and you are able to eat in the bar or the restaurant.
The inclusive breakfast offers a small buffet with cereals, pastries and a small selection of fruit and juices. There is also a comprehensive cooked menu to follow offering a good selection.
It's hard to find any major faults and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will return should I need a place to stay in the general vicinity in the future.
My only slight niggle was with the central heating, the extremely competent radiators have no thermostatic controls, the only way to attempt temperature controls is via the large valve, my fruitless efforts were to no avail, in the end you simply have to resort to on or off.
Well done The Crown Inn, I had a lovely 1 night stay whilst travelling on business.

Set on a broad inlet, Southampton is the largest city in southern England and cruise capital of Northern Europe. Some of the world’s largest liners are based here and many more visit regularly. The centre is modern but retains several historic buildings, two excellent art galleries, two theatres, plus good eating, drinking and shopping. Ocean Village leisure complex at the marina features a new museum of aviation.
