If you are keen to experience more of the region, head 18 miles (29 kilometers) to Kalamata. Here you can enjoy the Kalamata Municipal Central Library and Archaeological Museum of Messenia.

Ermionida is around 50 miles (80 kilometers) from Sparta. This center contains a some great tourist attractions, like Church of St. Demetrios, Dardiza Beach and Crusader Castle. Ermioni Museum and Library and Agion Anargiron Monastery are some more attractions here that should be included on every visitor's to-do list.

Houses of faith are often great windows into a community's spiritual heart. The churches of Peloponnese are certainly no exception. The most rewarding places for tourists to visit when they discover a new town are the ones that offer a window into the culture. Head to Peloponnese's theaters, art galleries and history museums.
